We woke up this morning to another beautiful SNOW DAY!
I am truly lovin’ the peaceful blanket of snow covering our neighborhood, but I may be going a little stir crazy! This time last year we were in Texas and it was HOT, y’all! Like tank tops and flip flop weather! So besides our typical movies and board games, I decided to stock up on snow themed library books to read with my girls. 
 
 
  One that the girls and I really enjoyed was called Cold Snap. It includes a recipe for Snow Candy so we decided we had to make our own. It was soooo good. 
 
All you need is snow and hot maple syrup and you can make this tasty winter treat too!

Maple Snow Candy

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • medium bowl of fresh snow

Instructions

  • Bring maple syrup to a boil in a small saucepan.
  • Drizzle hot maple syrup lightly over the snow.
  • Use forks to eat this sticky sweet treat right away!

How fun are kids books that include recipes and crafts?!
My kiddos and I love to cook food inspired by stories we read or movies we watch so this was a perfect snow day activity. 
 
 
I always keep a bottle of real maple syrup on hand. 
Not just for pancakes but also for vinaigrettes and dessert toppings.
 
Bring in a bowl of fresh clean snow.
 
 
This is a recipe you can all share out of one larger bowl 
or add snow to small bowls for individual treats. 
 
 
Bring maple syrup to a boil in a small saucepan.
 
 
Drizzle hot maple syrup lightly over the snow.
 
 
Ava liked helping make this treat …..
 
 
….and eat it too!
 
 
Use forks to eat this sticky sweet treat right away!
 
 
You can add as little or as much syrup as you want .
 
 
But it does melt and loose the snow texture if you pour on too much too fast!
