My family loves to explore and enjoy nature and all our beautiful surroundings here in Missouri.

Today is Earth day and it’s a favorite of ours because we can get outside and appreciate Mother Nature!

Over the years we have done many different activities together on Earth Day week including nature hikes, recycle and upcycle activities, scavenger hunts, and city wide clean ups.

Today we are going to the Botanical Gardens and enjoying a movie in the park! 

I put together a list below of our favorite family activities for Earth Day to share some fun memories and give you a few fun ideas for your Earth Day week.

Neighborhood Nature Walk Scavenger Hunt

Fresh air and sunshine every day are so important for kids! We have been enjoying family walks, bike rides, and walking our dog in our neighborhood and walking trails.

To make it more exciting for my kiddos, I created this fun Neighborhood Nature Walk Scavenger Hunt printable.

Pretty in Pink Picnic 

Picnics have always been an activity we enjoy, ever since my girls were babies. All you need is a nice day, a blanket, and a cooler with snacks and drinks!

DIY Upcycled Bird Feeders

Looking for an activity to use up all your extra toilet paper rolls?
I save our paper rolls for crafts with my kids and now that it is springtime our favorite way to upcycle

City Wide or Neighborhood Trash Pickup

One of my favorite childhood memories was participating in beach cleanups with my Dad. As a kid it made me feel good to clean up my hometown and feel like I made a difference. Also any time I spent with my Dad was a good time and as I look back I truly cherish those memories! This is why when our city hosted a trash pickup last year, I signed my whole family up. I wasn’t sure how my girls would react but they surprised me and were not only great helpers but enjoyed themselves too. Check out your city, church, and community calendars to sign up or host your own in your neighborhood!

DIY Painted Rocks 

Get outside and paint and hide rocks for others to find! This post includes some tips and many rock painting ideas.

They also make great gifts and garden decor!

Outdoor Movie Night

You can have an outdoor movie night almost anywhere!

We have done our own backyard and driveway, the local drive in, city park and even in a parking lot in a military hosted event on post. 

Check and see if your area hosts any upcoming movie nights or get a projector and play a movie on your garage door or hang up a sheet as a screen in the backyard.

Most importantly, enjoy the fresh air and cool breeze and don’t forget the popcorn!

Now that we live in the Midwest we get our fair share of winter weather, and if we are lucky we get a few snow days too! Coming from Texas and Louisiana my girls don’t see snow very often, so it’s a truly magical experience for them {and me}! 
All week long I have shared some of our favorite snow day themed recipes and crafts and today I wanted to share this fun Printable Snow Day Activities Checklist . Ava’s school library has themed family reading nights that we attend once a month.
This month was winter stories. We check out a few snow themed boxes to read at home. 

Make Marshmallow Snowflakes

Make Snow Ice Cream 

Collect clean snow from your yard and mix it was a few simple ingredients to make homemade snow ice cream at home. Check out the recipe here. 

Go Sledding

We went sledding for the first time a week ago. 
Our backyard hill was perfect and we all had a blast!

Make Snow Angels

Ava loves making snow angels even if there is only a little snow.
 Stella on the other hand doesn’t move much in the snow. Haha.

Drink Hot Chocolate

My girlies and I love us some hot chocolate! I make different flavors and serve
 them in special mugs to make it fun. 

Create Sock Snowman

This cute craft is made with one tall white sock filled with rice. 
Use rubber bands to close it and then pins to add buttons and fabric for decorations. 

Here are some more ideas:

 
Make snowflakes on paper with glue and salt then add water colors.
Use paper straws or popsicle sticks and glue on round pasta to make snowflakes. 
Then add paint and jewels and hang up.

Last weekend my family and I had the pleasure of attending our first circus together. But this wasn’t just any circus, y’all! It was a water circus called Cirque Italia and it was awe inspiring! Every performance was better than the last and we had a great time together from start to finish. 
My children seriously sat and watched with their mouths hanging wide open {OK, I did too}. The stunts were nail biting –but in a good way– and we all had a different favorite performance!  We attended the Cirque Italia Silver Unit show at Ingram Park Mall in San Antonio last Sunday. Cirque Italia now has two traveling shows across the country. Both feature state of the art technology that you don’t want to miss!

The lights, the water, the music, the suspense! 
This show is not to be missed!
 
The moment the water rose from the ground was the coolest part!
 What a way to open a show!
A contortionist started the show with her impressive skills. 
How does she do that?!
 
Three performers dazzled us on the high wire. 
The juggler was Stella’s favorite 
She has been practicing ever since. 
My daughter Ava’s favorite: the butterfly ladies.
They twirled, climbed, and magically flew through the air. 
Yes, you are seeing this right! They even had dinosaurs!
Ava made a new friend!
During breaks an Italian clown entertained the crowd. 
He was hilarious and kept us all laughing throughout the show. 
My favorite- the giant wheel and yep that is a daredevil standing on top of it!
I held my breath the whole time as he climbed on over …
…and laid down inside while it spun around! 
There were also magic performances, bike stunts, dancers, skaters, and lighted robots on stilts {just to name a few}! 
Ok, I have a second favorite! These two dancers who lifted and twirled in the middle 
of the water were breathtaking!
So beautiful and stunning!
Thanks for a great show Cirque Italia!
