If the chocolate seizes up, add 1 tsp vegetable oil and then heat 1/4-1/3 cup heavy cream and add it into the chocolate. I did this and it was fine after I added in the extra cream and a little oil.

Do not follow the recommendation to use chocolate chips. They do not melt and are not made for this. Use chocolate bars. We should have known better, but followed this recipe and wasted a bag of chips, ruining our fondue dessert.

Hi,
Sorry I missed your comment. I melt them together b/c adding cold heavy cream to hot melted chocolate will cause it to seize. The microwave method always works fine for me. Hope it turned out great!

We had the same thing happen. My husband was trying to surprise me with it and couldn’t figure out what was going on. The cream does something to the chocolate and it won’t melt the right way. Melt chocolate first and then stir in the cream.

Kiki, sorry this happened to you. I have made this recipe many times and never had that happen. Possibly your chocolate got too hot but 2 tbsp of heavy cream will not ruin your chocolate and cause it to seize up. Also you can try the microwave method mentioned in my directions above. Thanks.
