Apple Pie Caramel Apples
Makes 5 apples
Ingredients
5
medium or large apples
I like green, stems removed
1 11
oz
pkg caramels
2
tbsp
water
1
cup
white vanilla flavored candy melts
1/4
cup
sugar
1
tsp
cinnamon
5
wooden or plastic sticks
Instructions
In a small bowl mix together the sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
Wash the apples with hot water to remove any wax and dry well.
Insert one stick into stem end of each apple, about halfway through.
Line a baking sheet and spray with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
Place caramel and water in a bowl and heat in the microwave for 2 minutes. Stir until completely melted and smooth.
Dip the apples in to the caramel one at a time. Let caramel drip off and scrape off any excess caramel on the bottom.
Place caramel apples on the lined tray. Let set (you can put in the fridge to harden too).
Add the candy melts to a bowl and heat on 50% power for 30 seconds intervals until melted and smooth when stirred.
Dip each caramel apple in the melted candy melts, twirling until coated at least halfway.
Immediately after dipping, liberally sprinkle the apples with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
Refrigerate to fully set, about an hour.
