Apple Pie Caramel Apples

Makes 5 apples

  • 5 medium or large apples I like green, stems removed
  • 1 11 oz pkg caramels
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 cup white vanilla flavored candy melts
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 5 wooden or plastic sticks

  • In a small bowl mix together the sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
  • Wash the apples with hot water to remove any wax and dry well.
  • Insert one stick into stem end of each apple, about halfway through.
  • Line a baking sheet and spray with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
  • Place caramel and water in a bowl and heat in the microwave for 2 minutes. Stir until completely melted and smooth.
  • Dip the apples in to the caramel one at a time. Let caramel drip off and scrape off any excess caramel on the bottom.
  • Place caramel apples on the lined tray. Let set (you can put in the fridge to harden too).
  • Add the candy melts to a bowl and heat on 50% power for 30 seconds intervals until melted and smooth when stirred.
  • Dip each caramel apple in the melted candy melts, twirling until coated at least halfway.
  • Immediately after dipping, liberally sprinkle the apples with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  • Refrigerate to fully set, about an hour.
