<h3 style="clear: both; text-align: center;">It&#8217;s Fiesta time in San Antonio!</h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">During our year of iin SA we enjoyed a lot of celebrations and culture in the big city especially their <b>Fiesta</b> celebration. The girls and I attended parades, collected medals, and made crafts for Fiesta. Scroll down to see the instructions for our&nbsp;<b>DIY Celebration Suncatcher</b>&nbsp;and our favorite&nbsp;<b>Fiesta Memories and Medals.&nbsp;</b></div>

<h4 style="clear: both; text-align: center;">What is Fiesta?</h4>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Fiesta is one of America&#8217;s truly great festivals. It began more than 120 years ago as a way to honor the memory of the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto. Today Fiesta celebrates the diversity and culture of San Antonio.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">These colorful headbands worn during Fiesta are known as halos and are made</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">&nbsp;of paper flowers and ribbon.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" href="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/20180426_121650-01-768x1024.jpeg"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/20180426_121650-01-768x1024.jpeg" width="240" height="320" border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200"></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">My beautiful Fiesta princess.&nbsp;</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/20180427_10471128029-01-768x1024.jpeg" width="240" height="320" border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/20180427_105400-01-768x1024.jpeg" width="240" height="320" border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200"></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">There are so many parades and parties during Fiesta that it is hard to attend them all!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">We went to the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.battleofflowers.org/">The Battle of Flowers Parade</a>&nbsp;since it is the largest parade during Fiesta. It is also the only one in the country to be planned and directed completely by women and is second in size nationally only to the Tournament of Roses Parade.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/20180427_105614-01-768x1024.jpeg" width="240" height="320" border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/20180427_111452-01-768x1024.jpeg" width="240" height="320" border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200"></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">Other notable Fiesta parades and events:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.texascavaliers.org/river-parade/">Texas Cavaliers River Parade</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.niosa.org/">A Night in Old San Antonio</a>&nbsp;</div>
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.niosa.org/">Fiesta Flambeau Parade</a>&nbsp;</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" href="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/20180428_110143-01-768x1024.jpeg"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/20180428_110143-01-768x1024.jpeg" width="240" height="320" border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200"></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Even Dylan got to join in on the fun at the <a href="https://www.therapyanimalssa.org/about/fiesta-pooch-parade/parade-2019.html">Fiesta Pooch Parade</a>!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This was a walking parade through the beautiful downtown neighborhoods with your dogs and it was hands down one of my favorite events all year!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" href="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/IMG_20180423_090702_740-1024x1024.jpg"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/IMG_20180423_090702_740-1024x1024.jpg" width="320" height="320" border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600"></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Everyone and I mean everyone has their own Fiesta medal available to purchase.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" href="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/20180430_195101-01-768x1024.jpeg"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/20180430_195101-01-768x1024.jpeg" width="240" height="320" border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200"></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Many donate the profits to charity and most medals are around $5-12.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">You are supposed to wear your medals on a sash across your chest during Fiesta events.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" href="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/IMG_0165-1024x951.jpg"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/IMG_0165-1024x951.jpg" width="320" height="297" border="0" data-original-height="1486" data-original-width="1600"></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We collected quite a few medals during our first year and there are so many more I want to buy!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Some of our faves: the zoo, pooch parade, and SeaWorld.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Local businesses like Chick-fil-A, Whataburger, and Bill Miller BBQ&nbsp;</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">put out fun medals every year too.&nbsp;</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img decoding="async" style="border: 0pt none;" src="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/spoon-3.png" align="center"></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" href="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/IMG_0013-682x1024.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter" src="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/IMG_0013-682x1024.jpg" width="300" height="451" border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1067"></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We had the best time making Fiesta themed suncatchers last year to celebrate!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Check out our designs and the simple steps below.</div>
<h3 style="clear: both; text-align: center;">What You Need:</h3>
<ul style="text-align: center;">
<li>Paper Plates<br />
Markers/Crayons<br />
Clear Contact Paper<br />
Stickers, Buttons, and Sequins<br />
Letter Stickers<br />
Ribbon</li>
</ul>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">Directions:</h3>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<ol>
<li style="text-align: center;">Cut out the center circle in the paper plate, without cutting through the outside rim.</li>
<li style="text-align: center;">Color the rim of the plate and add stickers.</li>
<li style="text-align: center;">Cut out a circle of contact paper large enough to cover the cut out center but smaller than the entire plate.</li>
<li style="text-align: center;">Place the contact paper on the back of the plate with the sticky side facing up.</li>
<li style="text-align: center;">Place sequins, buttons, and stickers all over the sticky paper.&nbsp;</li>
<li style="text-align: center;">We used Fiesta print ribbon in the center. You can also add letter stickers.&nbsp;</li>
<li style="text-align: center;">Now place another circle of contact paper on top, smoothing to get out any bubbles.&nbsp;</li>
<li style="text-align: center;">Trim any edges.</li>
<li style="text-align: center;">Using a stapler or tape add festive rows of ribbon to the bottom.</li>
<li style="text-align: center;">Using a hole punch, add a hole to the top center and attach a ribbon for hanging.&nbsp;</li>
</ol>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img decoding="async" style="border: 0pt none;" src="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/fork-3.png" align="center"></div>
