<p>This&nbsp;<b>Farm Fresh Peach Salsa</b>&nbsp;was made with fresh ingredients from our local farm here in Louisiana. The&nbsp;<b>#MyTownProud</b>&nbsp;campaign celebrates the people, places, and stories that make small towns great and I am thrilled to share about our favorite farms and markets and why we are&nbsp;<b>#MyTownProud</b>&nbsp;with y&#8217;all today!<br />
<img decoding="async" style="border: 0pt none;" src="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/fork-2.png" align="center"></p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" href="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/IMG_20170617_151757_472.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="" src="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/IMG_20170617_151757_472.jpg" width="397" height="397" border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="720"></a></div>
<p>As a young military family, we were excited to move to Louisiana and begin my husband&#8217;s Army career and to start our family. What started as a short two year stay turned into almost six years living in a small rural town in Southwest Louisiana. My husband, who is from a small town in Montana, didn&#8217;t mind it so much but it took a while for this Florida girl to adjust. Luckily, there were many places to explore and things to do and small town life grew on us.<br />
<a style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" href="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/IMG_20170617_183944_507.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="" src="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/IMG_20170617_183944_507.jpg" width="398" height="398" border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="720"></a><br />
&nbsp; On of our favorite weekend activities is to visit the local Farmer&#8217;s Markets all over the local towns here in Southern and Central Louisiana. &nbsp; My family and I love visiting the local farms to pick fresh vegetables and fruits and shop the farmer&#8217;s market for food and handmade crafts and gifts.<br />
<a style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" href="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/20160813_125110-768x1024.jpg"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/20160813_125110-768x1024.jpg" width="240" height="320" border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200"></a><img decoding="async" src="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/20160813_122925-576x1024.jpg" width="180" height="320" border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900"></p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" href="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/20160416_121642crop-1024x353.jpg"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/20160416_121642crop-1024x353.jpg" width="320" height="110" border="0" data-original-height="553" data-original-width="1600"></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">&nbsp;</div>
<p>Many local farms in our area also has a weekly CSA, which is another way they reach out and work with the community. CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. CSA&#8217;s are partnerships between food consumers and the farmers who grow their food. Buying a CSA membership is a lot like buying a piece of the field for the season. Every week, you get a basket full of fruits and veggies harvested straight from the farm.<br />
<a style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" href="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/20160416_114929-576x1024.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="" src="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/20160416_114929-576x1024.jpg" width="281" height="500" border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900"></a><br />
After visiting these farms for a couple years now, we have come to know and appreciate the farmers and workers who keep these hardworking farms running and producing. They take the time to talk to you and recommend their favorite fruit or explain what crops are in season and why. They enjoy what they do and it is apparent every time you have a conversation with someone from the farm. The love and pride they have for their farm is a big reason they are so successful and long running. All these local farms are loved by not only the local community but all of Louisiana and this makes me&nbsp;<b>#MyTownProud</b>&nbsp;! That is why I wanted to share their story with you along with<b>&nbsp; The America’s Farmers</b>&nbsp;programs, sponsored by The Monsanto Fund and the My Town campaign.</p>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" href="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/farm.jpg"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/farm.jpg" width="320" height="141" border="0" data-original-height="266" data-original-width="600"></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">&nbsp;</div>
<div style="text-align: center;"><b>The America’s Farmers&nbsp;</b>programs, sponsored by&nbsp;<b>The Monsanto Fund</b>, puts the farmer in the center of the story. In rural communities throughout America, farmers not only provide food and fuel, but they are also pivotal characters in their communities – often serving as the backbone of the areas in which they reside. Through the Grow Communities, Grow Rural Education and Grow Ag Leaders programs,&nbsp;<b>The Monsanto Fund</b>, with the help of local farmers, celebrates the accomplishments throughout communities with grants to help them continue to grow and thrive.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" href="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/20170805_105833-576x1024.jpg"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/20170805_105833-576x1024.jpg" width="180" height="320" border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900"></a><a style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" href="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/IMG_2372-768x1024.jpg"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/IMG_2372-768x1024.jpg" width="240" height="320" border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200"></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">&nbsp;A new campaign sponsored by the programs called&nbsp;<b>My Town</b>&nbsp;will continue this celebration of the people, places and stories that make small towns great. &nbsp;Of those living in small, rural towns 95% say they have a sense of pride in where they currently live. I am proud to be from my small hometown in Florida and can&#8217;t wait to go back one day!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">I love this farm fresh salsa made using local organic fruits and veggies.&nbsp;</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" href="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/IMG_9943-1024x682.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="" src="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/IMG_9943-1024x682.jpg" width="400" height="266" border="0" data-original-height="1067" data-original-width="1600"></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">I start with 3 large yellow peaches.&nbsp;</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Peel them then finely chop. &nbsp;</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" href="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/IMG_9944-682x1024.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="" src="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/IMG_9944-682x1024.jpg" width="280" height="421" border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1067"></a></div>
<p>&nbsp;I love using multicolored mini peppers for salsas.<br />
I diced up one of each color for this recipe.</p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" href="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/IMG_9945-1024x682.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="" src="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/IMG_9945-1024x682.jpg" width="404" height="269" border="0" data-original-height="1067" data-original-width="1600"></a></div>
<p>Now dice 1/2 a red onion for some crunch and bite!</p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" href="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/IMG_9946-1024x682.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="" src="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/IMG_9946-1024x682.jpg" width="403" height="268" border="0" data-original-height="1067" data-original-width="1600"></a></div>
<p>&nbsp;Add the chopped peaches, onions, and peppers to a medium bowl and gently toss.</p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" href="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/IMG_9947-682x1024.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="" src="https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/IMG_9947-682x1024.jpg" width="302" height="454" border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1067"></a></div>

<h3 style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Happy 4th of July!&nbsp;</h3>
<div style="text-align: center;">Here&#8217;s a quick and simple <b>red, white, and blue&nbsp;fruit salsa </b>recipe that is the perfect appetizer to serve this Independence Day. It is sweet and tart and pairs perfectly with the salty <b>Freedom Chips</b> {if you like salty and sweet combos you will LOVE this!}. I found the patriotic colored tortilla chips aka <b>Freedom Chips </b>at World Market {my fave store for fun foodie finds} but regular tortilla chips or even cinnamon sugar pita chips would be delish too. Enjoy!<br />
