Beetlejuice Halloween Snack Mix

Ingredients

• 6-8 cups popped popcorn slightly salted
• 6 oz green yogurt covered pretzels
• gummy eyeballs and body parts
• 2 bars Halloween themed chocolate like Snickers and Twix roughly chopped
• 1 cup candy corn
• 1 cup Halloween themed M&Ms candy

Instructions

• Pop the popcorn and pour into a large bowl.
• Gently mix in remaining candy and pretzels and stir to combine.
• Scoop into small individual bowls and serve during movie night.

For this Beetlejuice inspired snack mix I used a variety of Halloween candies.

My favorite movie night combo is salty popcorn and sweet M&Ms. 

Start by adding fresh popcorn to a large bowl.

Gently mix in remaining candy and pretzels and stir to combine.

Scoop into individual bowls and serve at movie night.

To celebrate National Playdough Day and the new Beetlejuice Beetlejuice movie this month, we made edible spooky playdough at home!
This super simple craft is made with just 3 ingredients for the softest, sweet smelling dough for kids to roll, shape, and play with. 

What you need:

1/2 jar, about 1 cup Funfetti green vanilla Halloween frosting

2 cups powdered sugar

colorful variety Halloween sprinkles

Directions:

1. To a large mixer bowl, add frosting and powdered sugar. 

2. Mix slowly until fully combined.

3. Scoop the soft dough onto a plate or board.

4. Now let the kids add mix ins/sprinkles all over the top, pressing in. 

5. Now time to play! 

6. To store – add to an airtight container. It lasts for weeks!

I found this bright green Halloween Funfetti frosting that was perfect for this Beetlejuice themed dough.

But any color and brand of frosting works. 

Add 1 part frosting to 2 parts powdered sugar to a large mixing bowl. I did 1 cup to 2 cups. 

Mix slowly until fully combined. 

Now you have a soft, fluffy dough!

Scoop the fluffy dough onto a plate or cutting board.

Now the kids can play with it or you can add sprinkles and mix ins.

Now let the kids add mix ins/sprinkles all over the top, pressing in. 

I found a variety pack that including eye balls, gravestones, pumpkins, and bats.

Very on theme for Halloween and Beetlejuice!

I just love how colorful and fun this craft turned out!

Now time to play!

To store – add to an airtight container. It lasts for weeks!

This spooky drink is as fun to display as it is to drink! All the ghosts and ghouls will love this creepy twist on a fall favorite this Halloween season!

Haunted Shrunken Head Apple Cider

Ingredients

• 1 1/2 cups lemon juice
• 2 tbsp salt
• 3-4 large apples
• 1 gallon Apple Cider

Instructions

• Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
• In a medium bowl, add lemon juice and salt. Stir to combine.
• Peel and cut each apple in half, removing the core including the stem and seeds from each apple.
• Now, take a small paring knife and carve faces in the the rounded side of each apple half.
• Add apples to the bowl with the lemon and salt mix and let soak for a minute or two.
• Remove apples and place face up on a lined baking sheet.
• Bake apples until dry about 90 minutes.
• Meanwhile, why the apples bake add apple cider to a slowcooker on low to heat up.
• When the apples are done add them to the warm cider so the shrunken heads float on top.
• Display the Haunted Shrunken Head Apple Cider in a punchbowl or in the slowcooker with a ladle and mugs for serving.

Start with 3-4 large apples. 

 Peel and cut each apple in half.

Remove the core including the stem and seeds from each apple. 

Add apples to the bowl with the lemon and salt mix and let soak for a minute or two.

This keeps the apples from browning.

Now, take a small paring knife and carve faces in the the rounded side of each apple half.

My girls enjoyed carving scary and funny faces into the apples. 

A paring knife works well but you can also use a melon baller or small spoon to scoop out the eyes and mouth. 

Remove apples and place face up on a lined baking sheet. 

Bake apples until dry at 250 degrees for 90 minutes. 

When the apples are done add them to the warm cider.

The shrunken heads should float on top.

Display the Haunted Shrunken Head Apple Cider in a punchbowl or in the slowcooker with a ladle and mugs for serving. 

This recipe is inspired by two of our favorite family movies (that happen to feature shrunken heads), Harry Potter and Beetlejuice!

This month’s theme Halloween and everyone choose their own favorite Halloween-themed film to create a recipe or crafts inspired by that movie. I am excited to share a recipe inspired by one of my Halloween comedies: Beetlejuice.
These Slime Lava Cakes are perfect for serving at Halloween parties, move night, or heck just because they look cool! The white chocolate cakes are big enough to share and only require 6 ingredients. The lava filling looks just like slime and reminds me of my favorite green haired ghost, Beetlejuice! 

On the last Monday of each month, a group of bloggers participate in a #MovieMondayChallenge, hosted by C’mon Get Crafty! We decide on a topic, genre, or specific movie to use for inspiration and everyone gets free reign to create something wonderful!

Beetlejuice Slime Lava Cakes

Makes 4 servings

Ingredients

• 6 oz white chocolate chips
• 1/3 cup butter
• green food coloring
• 2 eggs
• 2 egg yolks
• 1/4 cup sugar
• 1/4 cup flour
• optional try adding vanilla or mint extract

Instructions

• Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
• Grease 2 large ramekins.
• Add chocolate and butter to a bowl. Microwave for 1 minute on 50% power. Stir then repeat in 30 second intervals until smooth and melted.
• Add 10 drops of green food coloring and stir.
• Set aside and let cool slightly.
• In another bowl, beat together eggs and egg yolks until foamy.
• Add sugar and beat for another minute.
• Not pour in the chocolate mixture and stir until smooth.
• Finally add the flour and mix well.
• Divide batter evenly into 2 ramekins.
• Bake for 18-20 minutes, until the tops of the cakes are slightly firm to the touch and golden.
• To serve, run knife around the outer edge of the ramekin. Place a plate on top of the ramekin and invert. When you cut into the individual cakes the green "slime" will ooze out!
• Serve warm immediately. Each cake is big enough to share!

 Bake for 18-20 minutes at 400 degrees.

 The tops of the cakes should be slightly firm to the touch and golden.

 

To serve, run knife around the outer edge of the ramekin.
Place a plate on top of the ramekin and invert.

 When you cut into the individual cakes the green “slime” will ooze out!

. Each cake is big enough to share!

Serve warm immediately and enjoy!
