It’s my birthday and I’ll cry eat all the cake if I want to!

For this special bday cake {yes I made my own cake!}, I combined some of my favorite things: chocolate, strawberries, Nutella, and waffles! I was inspired by a video I saw last year from My Cupcake Addiction and decided to create my own at home. This recipe looks impressive and will make any chocolate lover drool! Serve it for a birthday or just about any celebration.

Nutella Brownie Waffle Cake with Strawberries

Ingredients

  • 1 family size box of brownie mix
  • 2 eggs according to the back of the box
  • 1/4 cup water according to the back of the box
  • 2/3 cup vegetable oil according to the back of the box
  • 1 medium sized tub of Nutella
  • 16 oz container of strawberries stems removed and sliced

Instructions

  • Preheat your waffle maker.
  • In a large bowl mix together the brownie mix and additional ingredients from the back of the box {usually water, oil, and eggs}
  • Spray nonstick spray onto the waffle maker so that it’s well coated.
  • Place a large spoonful into each waffle section. Do not overfill.
  • Cook for about 2-3 minutes or until waffle maker ready light is on.
  • Remove waffles to a plate to cool and repeat with remaining mix.
  • Spoon Nutella into a zip top bag and cut off a corner tip.
  • When waffles have cooked and cooled add a dollop of Nutella to the center of a platter or cake stand. This will help secure the waffles.
  • Place one waffle in the center of the platter.
  • Drizzle Nutella over the waffle.
  • Add strawberries so it covers the entire top of the waffle and so the tips of the strawberries poke out from the waffle.
  • Drizzle more Nutella over the strawberries.
  • Place another waffle on top to make a waffle sandwich. Repeat the previous two steps until you’ve stacked your waffle cake four waffles high.
  • On your top layer, fill in the waffle squares entirely so that it’s completely covered.
  • Pipe Nutella over the edges so that it looks like the Nutella is dripping down the sides of the cake.
  • Top with a couple of strawberries on top and serve.

If you love chocolate and berries like I do, then this is the cake for you!

It’s strawberry season here in Louisiana and we are loving it!
For this recipe, to get the stacked waffle cake, I used a family size box of fudge brownie mix.
This will make a very tall cake or you will have leftover waffles for breakfast the next day.

I used our square Belgian waffle maker.
Prepare the brownie mix in a large bowl,
mixing in the extra ingredients from the back of the box.
Spray nonstick spray onto the waffle maker so that it’s well coated.
Place a large spoonful into each waffle quadrant. Do not overfill.
Cook for about 2-3 minutes or until waffle maker ready light is on.
Remove waffles to a plate to cool and repeat with remaining mix.

Spoon Nutella into a zip top bag and cut off a corner tip.
When
waffles have cooked and cooled, add a dollop of Nutella
to the center of
a platter or cake stand. This will help secure the waffles.
Place one waffle in the center of the platter.
Drizzle Nutella over the waffle.

Add strawberries so it covers the entire top of the waffle and so the tips of the strawberries poke out from the waffle.

Drizzle more Nutella over the strawberries.
Place
another waffle on top to make a waffle sandwich.

 Repeat the previous
two steps until you’ve stacked your waffle cake four waffles high.

On your top layer, fill in the waffle squares entirely so that it’s completely covered.

Pipe Nutella over the edges so that it looks like the Nutella is dripping down the sides of the cake.

Top with a couple of strawberries on top and serve.
Almost too pretty to eat. Almost.
My sweet Ava sure enjoyed it! She’s a foodie in the making!

I love Belgian waffles! Thanks for sharing such easy recipe for waffles. I really appreciate your valuable efforts! However, I have received my Belgium tourist visa & will fly next week. Could you suggest me the best restaurant to try authentic waffles?
