When my husband requested baked ham for our Christmas in August celebration, I knew I wanted to make a tasty version for him, but since I had a huge dinner to make on my own, I wanted to make it as easy as possible. So, as it often does, my Crock-Pot came to the rescue!
You are going to love this brown sugar and pineapple crusted ham. It’s so tender it just falls apart and the best thing- just throw it in the Crock-Pot for six hours and forget about it!

I created these delicious Leftover Holiday Ham Baked Sliders with my leftovers from Christmas dinner including this Crock-Pot Ham, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce.

I found this delicious spiral ham at Sam’s Club.
I have used ham anywhere from 3-7 lbs for this recipe.

Lay a base of brown sugar on the bottom of the Crock-Pot.
Place your cooked ham on top of the sugar.
Pour a can of pineapple tidbits with juice on top of the ham. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours.
Look at this juicy, sweet ham!
This ham made my Christmas in August dinner a lot easier and my husband
I came across your recipe today looking for a ham glaze that doesn't include mustard. I'm trying something similar to this, except not in the crockpot. Wish me luck!
Add dry mustard powder to the sugar … gives a spicy mustard glaze.
add 2 Tbsp of Soy Sauce for a Teriyaki type flavor ….
I'm not a very experienced cook , but i have a question about a Pre-Cooked Ham & 6 – 8 Hours time in the Crockpot / Slowcooker. Would this not dry the Ham Out ?
Oh yes! We made this today exactly as the recipe stated.
The ham was far too dry and tough.
Would not recommend this recipe at all!
Sorry to hear this! I make it every year and I have never had that happen. I do add the juice of the pineapple and cook on low. Is it moist and delicious!
I have family that can’t eat pineapple. how much liquid should I add to replace the pineapple juice
You could try adding another juice like apple or substitute water or broth. I would say 1 cup.
I made it for Christmas and it was okay, but I won’t make it for Christmas again 😔 I prefer mine.
It was okay, just not for a Christmas holiday meal and it wasn’t crispy like recipe stated it was tender but dry on top.
Followed the recipe to the letter 🤔 so not sure what happened.
Was bummed 😔
Sorry it was not your favorite holiday ham! Mine is always juicy but you could also baste with the juices a couple times. Also, as mentioned, you can pop it in the oven under the broiler for a few minutes to crisp the top.
We made this for Christmas 2020 and yes after 4 hours on low it dried out what was a great ham. It made the ham tough. The crockpot was at least half full of juices.
So sorry that happened. I have made this almost 100 times and it always comes juicy and tender! Not sure if your lid was not on completely? I know that it can dry out that way. I have tented it with aluminum foil when it is too large for the lid to fit properly and it still comes out great.
Recipe says 4-6 hours. Mine always comes our perfect. Never dried out.
No, the brown sugar and pineapples make a nice glaze the you baste over the top of your ham . The ham stays moist. And the crockpot is on low..
Any more questions, just ask. We were all novices at first.
I have a 10 lb ham how long in crockpot
mine was 8.5 lbs and I had it on high for an hour and then low for 4 hours and it was perfect.
What about the cleanup? Could you line the crockpot with foil to help on this?
Reynolds makes crock pot liners. Look for them by the foil.
Thanks – I'm fixing this tomorrow
Me too!
Looking forward to making this for Christmas day and glad I could read some of the comments about length of cooking time. Thank you for sharing.
Is the 6-8 hours for a frozen ham? I have a thawed 7lb ham and just don't want to overcook it!
Thawed will be fine. Check at the 6 hour mark. You can always adjust the cooking time near the end.
I love simple delicious recipes! Saving this and can't wait to try it!!
What do you serve as a side with this?
I serve sweet potato casserole, green beans , turnips (any veggie is good) maybe a green been casserole (if you don't like plain green beans.
Yes, any traditional holiday side dishes and casseroles are good. I love mashed potatoes or sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts along with some fresh baked bread!
With ham I love to serve au graten potatoes or even some "funeral potatoes". Garlic mashed potatoes are yummy, too. Any veggies and rolls.
What are funeral potatoes
Hashbrown potato casserole : https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/easy-cheesy-funeral-potatoes-for-a-crowd/
What is funeral potaoes?
Sour cream potato casserole
Mashed potatoes and green beans!
We like pineapple casserole. It goes especially well with ham. Basically, it is bread cubes mixed with a can of crushed pineapple and baked. I'm sure there is a recipe for it on Pinterest or somewhere else.
Can u use a ham shank and not spiral
lol
Wow, these recipes sure look good, 'and easy', thanks everyone!
You put bone-in in the ingredients but the SAMs club ham you used is boneless. Is there a difference in Cook time or method?
Thank you
I noticed that, too!
Hello! Sorry about that! No difference at all. The first time I cooked it I used a bone in and the second time {with the main photo} I used boneless. I have updated the post.
If I use a whole boneless ham will the flavor get into the ham? Or should I have it sliced and then tie it together so it doesn't fall apart. That way the flavor will be able to get into the ham. Also, we like honey ham so if I put some honey in there will it get a honey flavor as well?
I was wondering how you got the nice crusty outer shell on the ham. Did you bake in oven at 375 for 15 to 20 mins, or does it get that way just "sitting"? Also, I don't see the previous comments about "no bone" in ham! What am I missing?
Hello! I sprinkle a little extra brown sugar on top of the ham like in the pictures. The crust forms in the Crock-Pot. I have also updated the post. You can use boneless or bone in ham. I have tried both.
Easy directions don't know why some have a problem following you couldn't have explained this recipe any easier Great job Thanks for posting will try very soon
You really don't need to be putting down people for having questions. They may not be as experienced cooks as some of us, maybe they don't know much about slow cookers, or any other number of issues. You're first sentence is entirely uncalled for.
Good Grief
Nothing wrong with what was said. It is pretty easy to follow. People are way too sensitive these days. Geez. Anyways, easy recipe and so delicious. Thanks for a great recipe.
EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
People need to think back to the first time they tried something new. A ham is not cheap, so you don't want to ruin it. What's wrong with asking questions if it's not clear to YOU? This is what's wrong with the internet—it's full of people who can't wait to put others down.
Sure, absolutely no problem with asking questions that haven't been addressed, either in messages or recipe text and/or pictures. Please just make sure that you watch the video, read the text, etc. Let's remember that others are spending their precious time posting these recipes and have included quite a lot of information in order to help us re-create them. Let's invest OUR time in reading and watching…creating an investment that in the end, produces something good and positive. While I agree that we can sometimes be too sensitive, I also feel that we tend to want others to do most of the work while we just reap the benefits. Nice recipe! 🙂
Easy directions don't know why some have a problem following you couldn't have explained this recipe any easier Great job Thanks for posting will try very soon
Thank you so much Linda! This means a lot!
Always be kind – you never know what someone else is going through at the moment.
Just want to confirm, do I need to cook ham first seperately before putting in crock pot?
It is a precooked/smoked ham.
I make my ham every year with pineapples and brown sugar, but never in a slow cooker. Gonna give this a try this year so I can just put it in there and not have to worry about it. Good idea! God bless
This looks amazing. My husband doesn't like pineapple but this just mainly makes it juicy and doesn't have the taste of the pineapple correct?
Thanks so much!
Yes, the pineapple and brown sugar make a nice sweet glaze and cooking liquid but it is not a strong pineapple taste.
You probably could use orange juice instead of pineapple, if you don't care for pineapple.
I've have a similar recipie..I use coke instead of as much brown sugar, so you could use coke instead of pineapple…which also will give it that same tenderness the pineapple does. Root beer is a good soda to use too.
Couldn't I use straight pineapple juice without the tidbits/chunks?
Yes, but the chunks are such a good treat
I always use apple or orange juice instead of pineapples.
I use apple cider … Delish!
any acidic fruit will tenderize meat from what I've been told.
I like adding apple sauce to my glaze when I cook ham, you could try that instead. It blends well with the brown sugar, since he doesn't like pineapple.
I'm allergic to pineapple so I used can peaches, it's soooo good
Approximately how many does this feed?
Hard to say- depends on the size of your ham. I would say on average they are 5-6 lbs so about 12-14 people? A little less if using bone in ham.
Can this be done same way but in the oven
Could you do this with a non pre cooked ham? It's smoked but not cooked.
Yes, smoked ham is fine. That is what I use.
oh my days…what is a spiral-cut ham? we definitely don't have those here in Blighty
It is pre-sliced partially through.
I had to ask the butcher at Ralph's for the Spiral Sliced Ham. They are not on display (strange) with the other cooked hams and turkeys… They have them in the back 😉
i hate to be a spoil sport but a browned crunchy coating on a ham like the one in the cover photo can not be obtained by cooking solely in a slow cooker. The boneless ham does appear to have been cooked in a slow cooker with pineapple as it is paler without brown crust. A skillet, hot oven, grill or broiler is required for significant browning. The liquid from pineapple tendsto prevent crunchy browned crusts.
I assure you I cooked this ham only in my slow cooker with sugar rubbed on top like the picture. I took the final picture right after I took the lid off. It sure is one good lookin ham!
yes it certainly is, thank you SO much for this recipe, we had ham for thanksgiving and it was tough so I am SO glad I found your recipe so I can have this for Christmas, I am going to go stalk all of your other recipes now, again thank you !!!
Mine is crunchy and I cooked in my crockpot, too! Thanks for sharing your recipe!
I use my slow cooker for everything and I have even made oven roasted chicken with a crunch coat. The key is not adding liquid. So yes you can achieve tbd Brown crunch on this ham in a crockpot
Don't you just love know it alls?
This might seem like a silly question but I like to put cloves in my ham. How would that work with this recipe. Thanks
I use ground clove and finely sprinkle it all over.
Ground cloves or cloves placed throughout the ham is a fabulous taste that's always a true hit!
Some of these comments are crazy. Lol… looks amazing and will make it for thanksgiving. Thank you!! BTW you can definitely get a brown, crunchy crust like that from a crockpot!!
Oh my goodness…looks great! I will try this for Thanksgiving. Easy instructions too! I am confused as to why some find it hard to follow. I have cooked many things in my crock pot and obtained a brown crusty finish. Thanks for the recipe!
Looks great and so easy–thank you for the easy to follow directions–will be trying this soon!
I roast my whole chickens in the crockpot. Always has a crispy crust. The meat is not swimming in liquid! Another thing, why are people wanting the ham to be crispy, is what I ask???? Baked ham, Crockpot ham, comes out the same, I find. Thanks for your recipe, Nichole
Looks great! I love pineapple.
Does it have to be a spiral ham
No, but I would preslice it deeply just to get each ham slice exposed to all the juices of the brown sugar and pineapple juice.
Definitely helps each slice of ham get that yummy taste.
If you use a larger ham do you need to use 2 cans of pineapple?
If you have a Crock-Pot big enough for a larger ham sure add more juice!
iT IS GOOD ITH NOT JUST THE PINEAPPLE BUT CHERRY JUICE TOO.
Is it possible to use something other than pineapple? Or maybe use half pineapple and half something else? Looks delicious!
You could use just pineapple juice, or even coke or rootbeer. Someone else mentioned they've used cherry juice…maybe maraschino cherry juice?
Can you use a frozen ham?
These comments amaze me. Are some people just that darn stupid that they don't know how to follow directions. This looks and I am sure it taste wonderful also. Yes I have made ham in a crockpot and they turn out delicious.
Amen!
Thats not very nice.. guess no one ever had any patience with you when you were learning how to do something? Love and patience is more helpful than any criticism could ever be.
I don't think I want to eat anything that these people cook that follow the simple directions. I tried fried cornbread today from a recipe and turned out great except next time,I'll add more sugar
SUPER amazing meal! VERY easy! It tasted GREAT! It turned out super moist, super tender, WHOLE family loved it! I had a normal meijers pre-cooked half, 3.85lbs at the low on 6 hours. PERFECT! It wasn't sliced, but it turned out amazing and I was impressed! All of it was eaten. 🙂 Many compliments and happy tummy's!
Was your ham presliced? If not, did you lay your ham face down like she has in her picture? If it was not presliced did the flavors get into all of the ham?
This is how I've made my hams for years. It's a great, simple recipe and you just can't mess it up. For those that don't understand smoked, pre-cooked, or anything else about hams, just ask your meat market manager to explain them to you.
Generally I cook for one and own a small crock-pot. I'd love to try this recipe. Suggestions?
Ham freezes amazingly well. I always freeze our leftovers in portions I can use for soups. That's always an option if you find a great deal on a bigger crock pot!
Cut ham in half ,share with someone.
Thanks! Don't know why I didn't think of that!
I use 3-section "meal containers" with covers and freeze any leftovers…perfect for reheating when you're not in the mood to cook, or for filling the freezer…"cook once and done"…LOL…also cube any leftover ham and add to mac 'n cheese casseroles, macaroni salads, potato salads, soups, etc. etc….the possibilities are endless!!!
I have been doing my hams like this for years. I just haven't tried it in the crock Pot but have done so in the oven. I have used both regular and pre-cooked hams, sliced and unsliced. If you want a little bit of spice added to it my mother use to use …brown sugar, pineapple rings( 4 – 8 depending on ham size) , stud the pineapple rings with 3 – 4 whole cloves per ring and for a little added taste and color a maraschino cherrie in the center of the pineapple rings. bake this way about 4 hours or more or if you like you can us a crock pot as with the other recipe.
Do you put additional water in the crock pot?
No extra water needed. The ham juices and pineapple juice make it tender and juicy.
How about I explain a bit about ham… Ham starts out as pork. Technically, it comes from the leg/thigh but people make ham from other parts of the pork too… I make my own from the loin (think: unsliced pork chop). To turn pork into ham, it must be cured and oftentimes smoked. When I make it, I cure my loin twice, once in a wet cure which is basically salt, sugar, hot sauce and water. It sits in the wet cure for 48 hours. Then I remove it, dry it, and coat it in salt and pepper. I put it back in the fridge for at least 72 hours. I then take it out to my smoker and smoke it with applewood for 2-4 hours. By then, it's fully cooked. There is an art to curing and everyone does it different but those are the basics.
Thank you, Nicole for such an easy recipe. I'm not brave enough to risk ruining food so no one will eat it, money is just too tight.
Thank you also for all the patience & kindness many of you give to those of us who have "stupid" questions. We are just wanting to learn things we dont know from those of you who have knowledge & experience. Many of have no one else to ask outside of blogs like these. Thank you again. 🙂
So glad you like this recipe! No one has stupid questions. I am so grateful everyone is loving my recipes!
The only stupid questions are the ones left unasked…..
There is no such thing as stupid questions. If you don't ask, you don't learn anything. Some people who have cooked for years just don't have patience for the ones who are just learning and trying to understand. Ignore the remarks, too much negativity is what is wrong in this world. Wish more people could be positive and just be helpful~
The word stupid should never be used. There are no stupid questions.
Yes, there are! There are many, but the worst was "can I use a frozen ham?" – Of course you have to thaw it, GOOD GRIEF
no that wasn't a stupid question, she just wanted to know if she could put it in the crock pot without thawing it. Quit making fun of people!
I crock lots of frozen meats – why is that a stupid question??? I make pot roast with carrots and potatoes with a frozen roast – frozen chicken breast for lot of different meals (just cook a lil longer)
I'm new to cooking with a crock pot so saying that I bought a ham that was too big for my crock pot so the lid doesn't close… will the ham still cook liked it's supposed to if the lid doesn't close all the way?
You could cut off the end and stuff it down one side OR slice the top off and fry for breakfast or sandwiches?
I did the same thing! The only ham available was a large, shank cut that was too big for the crock pot. I had my heart set on this recipe, and didn't want to chop up the ham to make it fit, so I tried cooking it with foil wrapped tightly around the top of the slow cooker. Big mistake! Under those conditions, it did not generate enough moisture for the slow cooker method. Eventually I cut it in half to fit with the lid on all the way. From that time on, the ham cooked the way it was supposed to but the end result was tough and overcooked. Lesson learned! Make sure the lid fits correctly!
Ham in pictures seems to be placed in crockpot cut side down, but a good portion of the ham is not submerged in the pineapple juice, so I'm guessing that during the cooking process, the exposed portion of the ham will absorb the juice, and remain moist and juicy, and NOT end up dry and tough. Just wanted to make sure I was understanding this correctly, due to the fact that I didn't see any other comment in reference to this. Thanks.
Yes, quite a few have asked about it being dry. It is juicy and tender. The Crock-Pot seals in the moisture.
I put cloves in ham and use the brown sugar and pineapple rings. I also add marachino cherries to ham and add a little of the cherry juice to the ham.
Growing up my grandmother did this too, she also took some of the drippings (juice)and thickened to use as extra sauce on the ham.
Can one use Gammon instead of ham?
I don't see why not!
My mother cooked ham like this and I have for over 50+ years there nothing new about this recipe except she's using a Crock-Pot instead of an oven and most people also add maraschino cherries and some cloves
I love this idea! i'm a little nervous about the ham being dried out, though. maybe someone else asked this question, ? I really like a very juicy ham 🙂 thanks!
It is perfectly juicy. The Crock-Pot seals in the moisture and it is not dry at all.
Can you do this in a pressure cooker? If so, do you know cook time? Thanks!
Yes, I am sure you can! I have not used a pressure cooker personally but I Googled some info and most say anywhere between 15min- 1 hr then put under the broiler to crisp the skin.
Thanks!! That's interesting. When you make it in the crock pot, foes does it have crispy skin?
The Dolce looks amazing too…what coffee maker do you use?
The Dolce coffee is bagged ground coffee by Starbucks. My favorite! And I use the Ninja Coffee Maker. You can check it out here: https://www.4theloveoffoodblog.com/2015/12/ninja-coffee-bar-and-love-you-latte.html
This sounds delicious, but 3c. of sugar seems like an awful lot. Has anyone else used less, and if so, how much? I do plan on trying it!
Does it matter if i bought a half ham?
Nope. Half a ham is usually still around 6lbs. Works perfectly.
You can adjust the amount of brown sugar according to the size of your ham. In a bowl mix about a cup of brown sugar, pineapple juice from a can of pineapple rings, ground cloves (about 1tsp or so according to your taste preference), and Kentucky Bourbon. Secure pineapple rings to ham and brush the glaze all over the ham and bake accordingly. Easy and delicious.
Should the crockpot be set on High or Low?
Her recipe says, to cook on low for 6 hours. I am glowing to try this too!
I mean GOING, not glowing. Lol!
Can't wait to try this for Thanksgiving. The hams we have seen are around six pounds. Would this work or would we need to cut ham in half? In the pictures there seems to be room for more ham. Would too much juice be created for a six quart crock pot? Would we need to double other ingredients for a six pound ham?
I remade this last night and used a 7lb ham with the exact same ingredients. It was perfect.
Any suggestions on what to use the left over juice/brown sugar mixture for? Seems a shame to waste it.
Some have said they use it as a glaze or gravy. I serve the pineapples with my ham and pour a lot of the juice on top.
Would this work well in an electric roaster oven?
I am not sure. I would recommend crockpot or oven.
My crockpot isn't large enough for my ham. If I were to use tse the oven, what temperature should I use and for how long per pound?
I'm gonna try this out. But I have a boneless 8.5lb ham. Planning to put it in the crock pot on high at 7am and serve at 12pm. You think it'll be done by then?
Most hams are already cooked/smoked so you can try to do 3 hours on low and 2 on high. But I wouldn't just cook it on high.
She said on LOW for six to eight hours. 7 to 12 is not six. It isn't eight, either. High is not low. High will dry it out. If you can't follow the instructions you need to put it in the oven and cook normally.
Can you use a ham that is not spiral?
Sure. Spiral ham is just easier to slice, prettier presentation, and the juices and sugar can soak into the ham better, in my opinion.
what if you cannot put it sliced end down will it still be OK
You can put it in the Crock-Pot however it will fit. It will still be tasty and juicy!
If I have a slow roaster what temperature would you recommend to set it at? The lowest temp is 150.
What if I'm only cooking for two. What size ham should I use and what would i want to adjust the measurements to?
I found a smaller 3lb half ham at Sam's Club before and that cooked up beautifully. Also I love using leftovers for sandwiches and casseroles!
I have a three pound ,sliced boneless ham , should I reduce the amount of sugarand how long do I cook the small ham ? Please Help
We just got our ham , going to make this one I usually glaze the ham on top and I cooked my ham last year in a crockpot and was awesome …. I canned my own pineapple this year and so eager to make this
Thank you ! 🌻
In the picture you show your ham and state it is 3 lbs. A 3 lb ham is quite small and most hams I see for sale are between 6-8 lbs. In the comments I see people refer to Hams around this size, and I even read a comment where you mentioned using a 7 lb. ham. Is your recipe specifically for a 3 lb. ham? Should I double it for a ham twice the size? I have a 6 quart crockpot. I am assuming a 6-8 lb. ham can fit in that without problem. I would like to do this for Thanksgiving. But I want to make sure I get it right.
Hi Diane. I have updated that. The first time I made this I used the Sam's Club smaller 3 lb ham. However, the last few times I have made it I have been cooking for many more people so I used between 5-7lb hams. All fit in my biggest Crockpot and I used the same amount of sugar and pineapple b/c the ham itself has a lot of juice too. It always comes out tender and with a nice crust!
I don't understand why the repeat of questions!!!! Read it people!! Tks Nicole, I'm going to try for Thanksgiving! Hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving!
can I use raw honey with the brown sugar and pineapple juice? Would that male it to sweet?
I want to do this for a potluck at work. Would you advise reheating this see in crockpot next day after cooking?
It won't let me pin it 🙁
Ughhh was so excited to try this and my ham won't fit in my crock put. Was sooo close!!
So hubby bought me a 11.5lb instead since it was on sale. Any idea how to adjust the recipe/cook times to accommodate the size difference?
My family isn't fond of pineapple and we were wondering what we would need to change if we just want the brown sugar and the ham? Can I just put it in the crock pot like that or do I need to add something else so it will still be nice and juicy? Thank you!
My daughter requested this recipe, as she does not like turkey. I just set the 6 hours on the Crock Pot and we can't wait to try it this afternoon! Thanks for such a great and easy recipe 🙂
Just tried the crockpot ham and pineapple recipe. I added some maraschino cherries to the recipe as they are a family favorite. After putting it in the crockpot overnight and setting my clock for 6 hours to wake up to a delicious smelling ham; Oh wow! It taste GREAT!!!Easy recipe to use without the hot heat of the oven. Thank you for sharing.
Dang my ham is to tall for the crock. Do you think aluminum foil will hold the steam in?
This ham recipe did not come out as pictured. The flavor was good, 6 hours as too long and I never got the sugar crust although I followed the directions.
I was so excited to try this recipe to complete my Thanksgiving dinner this year. I followed the recipe to the letter, cooking it for 6 hours, the ham turned a very dark color and was completely dry. What could have gone wrong?
I made this on Thanksgiving. 9lb spiral in 6qt crock pot. Tough time making it fit! Mine did not get the crusty browness on top but boy oh boy was it delicious! Pretty sweet tasting though if you like ham that way. I'm not sure why it's done in a crock pot, maybe to free up the oven if you don't do it ahead? It seemed to me baking in the oven would produce the same results. Question: Is it to be basted at all during cook time? It could have been more moist.
Can you use a ham that has not been precooked or smoked? How long would i cook it
followed recipe and ham was dried out and not good.
Sounds delicious this will be my Christmas Ham. Can't hardly wait!!!! Thanks for the recipe

I'm visiting my daughter for Christmas who loves ham. I cant wait to fix this for her family.

this looks amazing-and SO simple!
This looks so good!
Love the pineapple in there, so much extra flavor!
I love using my slow cooker around the holidays!
I used your recipe for my writers group holiday party. Thank you! Everyone raved about the ham. I'm going to clear out my freezer and buy a lot of spiral hams when they go on sale after the Holidays. This ham recipe is going to be my main main from now on.
You can also use 6 oz. of regular ginger ale & 1 table spoon of dried mustard & slices of pineapple.
Have you ever used a frozen ham for this recipe?
Hi, Norway calling! Preparing for Christmas, and I bought a raw, brined ham. My American husband likes his ham made with brown sugar and pineapples, so this sounds like the perfect recipe, but never tried making it a crockpot. Would the time be sufficient for a raw ham too, or do I have to add more time? To me, 6hrs sounds like a really looooong time for a pre-cooked one, but then I'm no expert. Wouldn't want t ruin an expensive ham mid Christmas!
and my ham is a little over 4lbs
How many servings did yours make?
Do you have to thaw the ham first?
Do you have to thaw the ham first?
Looks good but I have never seen a crockpot brown any meat as dark as that.
Hi I have a Smithfield hardwood smoked non precooked ham will this recipe work with this ham? I have a lot to cook and this would be wonderful to try I've never done a ham in the crock pot before.
I tried this last week in preparation for Christmas, I struggled with how salty the ham came out, I felt like the juices ran out and the salt stayed behind, would love any tips to reduce the saltiness of it. We also found the ham to be very dry, I am not sure if my crockpot runs hot or not, but 4 hours was too much. I read on another site that using a Bone In non cut ham yields a less dry ham so I am going to try that.
Should I baste while cooking?
In the crock pot now for Christmas dinner and smells delicious. Can't wait! Thanks 🙂
so tasty. I'll prepare it for the next holiday. Thanks for sharing this recipe

Has anyone made gravy from the crockpot leftover liquid? I usually make gravy from the ham pan drippings. I am curious how it turns out using the sugary pineapple and brown sugar liquid?
Oooh, this is such a great little treat! I love it! Cannot wait to try it.

My upcoming holidays are going to be of great Fun! These recipes are just mind blowing and can't wait to eat them soon in my air fryer .
Keep sharing!
Such a great recipe for the holidays!
This looks perfect!
Does it have to cook for 6 hours? Making this for thanksgiving and we are traveling so wanted to see if it can be cooked for a shorter time? Made this last year and it was SO good!
I'm all about my crock-pot this time of year!
I'm all about my crock-pot this time of year!
what if you have a raw ham, its not pre cooked
Just discovered your post and immediately followed your awesome site💕tysm for such an easy beautiful ham recipe! I no longer have a crock pot. Had to get rid of when I received my Insta pot is it possible for you to re-post directions for the Insta pot? Thank you so much again
I made this for my sons wedding and it came out beautifully. It was gone before we knew it. I guess we should’ve made two of them.
larger hams do not fit in a 6qt crockpot this recipe is for smaller hams
Hi there. I have 3 Crock-pots and a boneless ham does fit in them. If it does not, then add tinfoil tented on top.
I have done this recipe for 3 Christmas dinners and I love it , but what if I have an uncooked ham?
Hi Venessa,
So glad you love this recipe! Most hams I have seen are precooked. If you use an uncooked ham I would had a few more hours and check the doneness.
I bought a 7.05lb smoked ham thats fully cooked for some odd reasons the supermarkets I went to did not have pre-cooked. Is it still ok to slow cook it for 6 hours? I am making this tonight. Merry Christmas!
Yes, if it is smoked it is cooked! It will be fine in the Crock-Pot! Merry Christmas
I have made this recipe for the past 3 yrs now – Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas and it always disappears faster than the turkey my sister insists on lol. My nephew in law says this is the ONLY way he will eat ham anymore – I think that is a great review on this recipe too. In the past I have had trouble fitting the ham in my 6 QT slow cooker and out of desparation I put it in a roasting pan covered with 2 layers of heavy duty aluminum foil and popped it in the oven at like 275 F for the same amount of time and it came out beautiully too. The recipe is extremely easy to follow if anyone takes the time to read it through, and they will end up with a very juicy delicious ham when they’re done! As a side note I have cut down on the amount of brown sugar by about half lately and it still comes out lovely.
Thanks for the wonderful review! Happy Easter!
Do I put the ham face down in the Crock-Pot or sideways like in your video?
Anyway it will fit! I have done both ways and it turned out great.
Does the ham go face down in the Crock-Pot like the picture shows or sideways like in your video. I don’t want to mess this up seeing it will be my first time preparing it. Thanks and have a nice Easter
I have purchased 4 very thick slices of cooked honey ham can I cook this in the crockpot with the pineapple, & brown sugar etc on low for 2 to 4 hours or would it dry out???
I think it would work just fine. The ham, pineapple, and sugar make plenty of juice so mine never dries out. I would cut the time in half since you are just reheating.
Thanks
This ham is DELICIOUS! It will be the only ham recipe I use especially for the holidays. This recipe is so “fix it and forget it” that you have plenty of time to work on other dishes for your holiday meal! Love it!
wow nice addition of pineapple, looks like it will be fresh food in summer
wow nice addition of pineapple, looks like it will be fresh food in summer time
thanks for the recipe, this ham dish is one of my favorites after trying your recipe.
I made this for my sons wedding and it came out beautifully.
can i change the ham with another vege-meat ? i think this recipe is really great!
Sure! I have never tried it but I bet it would be delicious!
Can I change sugar with kurma?
I have never tried kurma but since it is a gravy I think it would work. Let me know how it turns out!
Hi, I’ve made this ham twice and it was a hit. For some odd reason last year and this year I am having a hard time finding a pre cooked. If I buy fully cooked, will that be fine? Should I cook it same amount of time or for less since it’s fully cooked?
Yes, I used a cooked ham and it just warms it and adds the nice glaze in the slow cooker. Try a couple hours and add more time if needed.
Do you think I could do this in a roaster and if so what temp would you recc and duration I have a 10.5# ham
Sure. Since the ham is precooked and boneless you just want to warm it with the glaze. I prefer the slowcooker so you can pour the sugar and pineapple on top but a roaster would warm it well. Probably low around 325-350 for a couple hours.
This is my go to ham. I have made it for the past four years exactly like the recipe states, and it’s a family hit !
Can me change the sugar with alternative? The option is kurma or you have suggestions?
Well, it would change the recipe a lot but you could try honey instead. Let me know what you think!
