It’s Thanksgiving week and if you’re like me and planning a big potluck style meal with family, you may still be searching for the perfect side dish or appetizer! Look no further friends! I have compiled my favorite ten potato side dishes and appetizers below for you. I know you will find a tasty recipe {or two or three} to make for the upcoming holidays. They are always a hit with my family because let’s just be honest carbs are yummy!

1. Kentucky Hot Brown Boxtys with White Cheddar Sauce

Boxtys are breaded and fried mashed potato balls and these are inspired by one of my favorite Southern recipes: the Kentucky Hot Brown sandwich. Try using your leftover Thanksgiving turkey and mashed potatoes!

2. Paula Deen’s Twice Baked Shrimp Stuffed Potatoes

This rich and delicious side dish is perfect for a holiday meal!

 3. Mashed Potatoes with Fried Shallots

Extra creamy steakhouse style mashed potatoes topped with crispy shallots are perfect for holiday meals and date night dinners at home!

 4. Beer Battered Onion Ring Mini Potato Skins with Awesome Sauce

These bite size, twice baked potato skins are filled with Heluva Good! Beer Battered Onion Ring Dip, bacon, and cheese and are served with a side of flavorful Awesome Sauce for dipping.

5. Paula Deen’s Shrimp and Potato Soup

This recipe for Shrimp and Potato Soup, garnished with bacon and cheese, is adapted from a recipe by the amazing Paula Deen. It is the perfect hearty soup for a cold winter night. Enjoy!

6. Warm Red Potato Salad with Bacon and Blue Cheese

This is my potato lovin’ husband’s favorite dish! The potatoes make it hearty, the blue cheese gives it tang, you get a nice sweetness from the Vidalia onion, and of course, the crunchy, savory bacon adds another layer of flavor! How can you go wrong that?!

7. Ultimate Sweet Potato Casserole

This side dish recipe, originally from “Southern Living”, is the ultimate creamy Sweet Potato Casserole topped with cornflakes, marshmallows, and pecans! Perfect for big family meals during the holidays!

 8.  Duck Dynasty Mashed Potato Casserole

This casserole recipe by Ms Kay from Duck Dynasty is a guaranteed crowd pleaser and a delicious holiday side dish! Who doesn’t like the ultimate comfort food- creamy, warm mashed potatoes?!

 9. Holiday Sweet Potato Stuffed Orange Cups

A little (potato) goes a long way and I love the ease (and cuteness) of the individual orange cups. Perfect for holiday meals like Thanksgiving!

10. Patriotic American Flag Potato Salad

This tasty potato salad is topped with bacon, chips, and sour cream to make a flag design. Patriotic American Flag Potato Salad is a great side dish to serve for Independence Day, Memorial Day, and even Thanksgiving!

Bonus!

Here are three other “out of the box” potato recipes that you can serve at
your next family gathering or potluck!

Barbecue Pulled Pork Topped Hasselback Sweet Potatoes

These Hasselback Sweet Potatoes are filled with a brown sugar butter sauce and topped with my famous Crock-Pot Rootbeer Pulled Pork and Barbecue Sauce.

All American Totchos {Tater Tots + Nachos}

What do you get when you combine tater tots and nachos? Totchos! These bite size baked potato puffs are made All American style with red, white, and blue toppings including cheese, bacon, and crispy potato strips!

Lucky Dog Lobster and Potato Hash with Hollandaise Sauce

This decadent Lobster and Potato Hash with Hollandaise Sauce is a gourmet meal that is easy to make at home and will surely impress your guests!
