Tropical Trail Mix

My husband and daughter love to snack {ok we all do!} and it’s easy to grab the wrong types of foods to nibble on. Trust me, I love chocolate and chips as much as the next guy but I can’t splurge on those every day. I want to set a good example for my daughters and give them healthy options too. I have always had my toddler try everything at least once and because of this Ava’s favorite snacks are fruits, hummus, carrots, and crackers and she would probably choose these things over chips {but let’s not kid ourselves she would choose chocolate in a heartbeat if it was an option}. So I like to make simple, good for you snacks like muffins, granola bars, and trail mix for my family to grab on the go or eat when they are craving an afternoon snack. This Tropical Trail Mix is a tasty combo of tropical dried fruit, coconut, roasted macadamia nuts, and yogurt covered raisins. It tastes great, satisfies your craving for sweet and salty snacks, and you won’t have any guilt after eating it!
Here’s to a happy and healthy new year!

Tropical Trail Mix

Fills one pint size mason jar

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cup tropical dried fruit mix
  • 1/4 cup yogurt covered raisins
  • 1/4 cup roasted chopped macadamia nuts

Instructions

  • Mix together all three ingredients in a bowl.
  • Pour into a lidded mason jar or container.
  • Snack on right away or save for later.

I found a few different tropical fruit mixes. I prefer the Wal-Mart brand which had raisins, banana chips, dried pineapple and papaya, and coconut strips. The other brand I found had kiwi, mango, cherries, and apricots. Mix and match if you want!
Add dried tropical fruit to a medium bowl. I use about 1 1/4 cups.
Now add 1/4 cup yogurt covered raisins.
I then add roasted chopped macadamia nuts.
You could substitute almonds if you can’t find these.
Pour into a container or a mason jar with a lid.
This amount fills a pint size {16 ounce} mason jar.
Healthy, delicious, and satisfies your snack craving.
Add to a mason jar or container, seal, and add a label.
This Tropical Trail Mix makes a great gift!
