This simple and flavorful dip is my favorite for a holiday appetizer and game day buffets because it can be thrown together in minutes and always tastes great!

This version is jazzed up for St Patrick’s Day and served in Pumpernickel bread with green tortilla chips for dipping.

Sour Cream and Green Onion Dip

Ingredients

  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 5 oz green onions about 9, diced
  • 1 tsp garlic diced
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 large round loaf of Pumpernickel bread
  • green tortilla chips for serving

Instructions

  • Using a bread knife cut a circle in the center of the bread, be careful not to cut all the way through, and remove the extra bread and cut into pieces or use a shamrock cookie cutter.
  • Place on a plate with the bread loaf in the center and the pieces around it.
  • Add green tortilla chips around the plate also.
  • In a medium bowl, add softened cream cheese and sour cream. Mix well with a spatula or hand mixer.
  • Add in green onions (reserve 2 tbsp), garlic, mustard, and spices and stir until combined.
  • Scoop into the bread loaf and garnish with reserved 2 tbsp green onions.
  • Cover and refrigerate or serve right away and enjoy!

I love party dips like this recipe because they only require a handful of simple ingredients and are a breeze to prepare!

I found this round loaf of St Patrick’s Day Pumpernickel at the store and knew I wanted to make a bread bowl dip!

Rye bread and sourdough loaves are also great for dips for the holidays.

Using a bread knife cut a circle in the center of the bread, be careful not to cut all the way through,

and remove the extra bread and cut into pieces or use a shamrock cookie cutter.

These crunchy and thick green onions have a tasty strong flavor I love! I use a whole 5oz package in this dip.

Dice all the green onions and set aside.

In a medium bowl, add softened cream cheese and sour cream. Mix well with a hand mixer.

Add in garlic, mustard, and spices and stir until combined.

Now stir in green onions (reserve 2 tbsp).

Scoop into the bread loaf.

Garnish with reserved 2 tbsp green onions.

Serve with bread and tortilla chips for dipping.

Happy St Patrick’s Day!

The diced green onion is an amazing addition to the sour cream, omg…It changed it completely. Highly recommended.
