“Nanas” as Ava calls them are a favorite fruit in our home but we usually just have them for breakfast or a snack . But since it’s summer time I thought I would make a Banana dessert instead. My husband loves grilling, so I thought why not throw them on the grill?! The result was a spectacular ooey-gooey sweet treat that you have to try!

Grilled Dessert Bananas

Ingredients

  • bananas unpeeled
  • misc toppings see list below like chocolate chips, coconut, and pecans.
  • aluminum foil

Instructions

  • Preheat grill to medium heat.
  • Slice bananas through the peel, but not all the way through. You should have a banana pocket, still completely in the peel.
  • Stuff with whatever yummy toppings you desire! I set out shredded coconut, chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, honey, mini marshmallows, chopped pecans, cinnamon sugar, and graham cracker bits.
  • After stuffing, wrap each banana in a double layer of aluminum foil.
  • Place on the top rack of a grill and cover. Grill for 8-10 minutes.
  • Remove from heat, carefully unwrap and remove aluminum foil. The banana peel will be black but the banana and toppings should be melted and gooey! Perfect for dessert!
  • Grab and fork and dig in!

Set out your toppings! I had shredded coconut, chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, honey, mini marshmallows, chopped pecans, cinnamon sugar, and graham cracker bits.
Try S’mores: marshmallows, graham cracker pieces, and chocolate chips.
Try Elvis: peanut butter (chips or spread), honey, and bacon bits.
Try Bananas Foster: pecans and brown sugar.
My Fave: chocolate chips, shredded coconut, and cinnamon sugar.
Slice bananas through the peel, but not all the way through.
You should have a banana pocket, still completely in the peel.
Stuff your bananas with delicious toppings!
This is the difference between my husband and my daughter’s reactions to their dessert bananas….Ava cute and sweet and Ashton overly excited {and slightly crazy} to put it mildly!
Wrap up your ‘nanners twice in aluminum foil and label if you have quite a few with different toppings.
Now place on the top rack on the grill over med low heat and cover the grill. Grill for about 8-10 minutes. Just enough to melt the toppings.
Unwrap your decadent treat {don’t worry about the blackened peel, the banana is perfectly cooked inside!}, grab and fork, and dig in!
Warm, gooey, and a delicious treat!
This may be one time it’s ok to eat dessert first!

🍓 Today is National Pick Strawberries Day. Going to local farms and picking fresh produce is one of our favorite family traditions. We were lucky enough to go strawberry picking at @eckertfarms last weekend. It was the biggest farm we have ever been to and quite a memorable experience! We left with a basket full of fresh juicy berries, strawberry cider and pastries from the market, and soaking wet clothes (but smiles on our faces). I'll share more about the hail storm that hit us in the middle of the field later... ⛈️😨 #nationalpickstrawberriesday #farmfresh #strawberry #eckerts #farmtotable #farmlife #illinois #springtime #familyfun #eckertfarms #eckertsmemories

❤️This week marks 2 years since our beloved cocker spaniel Dylan passed away. I created this free printable Rainbow Bridge poem on the blog in honor of Dylan. It can be customized with your pet's photo and would be a cherished framed gift for someone who has lost a special pet. #rainbowbridge #doglove #dogheaven #rip #mydog #neverforgotten #rainbowbridge🌈

Happy Birthday to my Mom! We were lucky this year to be together (finally!) to celebrate. We started with a delicious brunch at @sybillstj and then enjoyed the gorgeous sunny day with a walk around Meremac Springs. 🌯Late #CincoDeMayo post! My first visit to @forttacostl last night was delicious! I tried a variety and loved it all. They were out of pork but that gives me an excuse to go back and try the al pastor pork and homemade sauce next time!
