Kids Easter Painting Crafts Using Household Items

It’s Easter Week and we are having so much fun together crafting! My kiddos love painting and making beautiful creations so I set out to make some new Easter pictures with them this year.

The only problem was we are stuck at home and we didn’t have all the craft supplies we needed. No worries- Mom to the rescue!

I had plenty of household items and Easter decor that work for Easter stamping and painting.

We used cookie cutters, plastic Easter eggs, Peeps candy, and even potatoes to paint and stamp Easter themed creations like signs and garland.

We had so much {messy} fun I am going to use these ideas every year from now on!

I filmed a segment of Tea with Tai for our local Blue Star Families of Missouri this week too.

Ava demonstrated a couple of our featured crafts and I discussed military spouse life and how Blue Star Families has helped me personally.

You can view the video here.

Scroll down to see the instructions and the final creations.

Happy crafting and Happy Easter!

1. Peeps Marshmallow Candy stamping

The bunny shaped Peeps work great for stamping in bright colored paint on paper.

Ava created the cutest bunny drawing, sign, and cards using Peeps bunny stamps.

2. Plastic Easter egg stamping

I like to reuse and recycle our plastic Easter eggs every year.

I have been using them for painting, tracing, and stamping since the girls were toddlers.

Stella liked this craft the most and made this beautiful flower creation and rainbow art!

3. Potato Easter egg stamp

This is my fave! Slice a small to medium baking potato in half at a slight angle.

Carve out some designs like zig zags or stripes with a pairing knife.

Now use a small brush to paint the raised parts of the potato.

Press the potato down on paper and you have a pretty Easter egg!

How cool does this look? We made potato stamped Easter egg art on cardstock and draw scenes around them.

We also cut some out after we stamped and strung on ribbon for garland.

It worked better than I imagined and the girls got a kick out of it!

I love how creative my girls are.

I treasure these times with them and being able to stay at home with them is such a joy {even though sometimes I do hid in the closet for a few moments of peace}.

4.Cookie Cutter Garland

I love cookie cutters and use them all the time for crafts and baking. I found this plastic set for $1 for 6 at the grocery store.

You can stamp in paint with cookie cutters but for our craft we decided to trace them on paper then paint our shapes.

After they dry  cut them out, punch holes in the tops, and string on ribbon or yarn for a pretty garland to hang and display.

Ava’s beautiful creation. I plan to keep it and hang it up every Easter season.

One of my Easter displays at home featuring some art I painted and crafts my girls have made.

I love this time of year. Sending time with my family and making memories is the best! I am such a sentimental softie and I keep many of the crafts we create together.

I would love to hear what your kids are crafting for spring and Easter.

I love your crafting ideas – they are very pretty and creative! My girls have mostly been building puzzles and creating scavenger hunts for each other lately, but a couple of weeks ago they were into weaving on their looms again…
