The Lion King Peanut Butter Fruit Dip #MovieMonday

It’s movie night tonight and we are watching Disney’s The Lion King. I made the girls, with some help from my creative husband, a healthy and fun Disney themed treat to snack on during the show! It turned out better than I imagined and they gobbled up my Peanut Butter Fruit Dip faster than you can say
Hakuna Matata!
On the last (or fourth) Monday of each month, a group of bloggers participate in a #MovieMondayChallenge, hosted by C’mon Get Crafty! We decide on a topic, genre, or specific movie to use for inspiration and everyone gets free reign to create something wonderful!
This month’s challenge was. . . . Fathers! Your Dad’s Favorite Film, or just a movie about fatherhood! Everyone was allowed to choose their own favorite film so long as it was inspired by the challenge word. I chose- The Lion King. I love this Disney movie and the scenes with Simba and his wise and brave father Mufasa are some of my favorites. It is a great movie to watch with your kids especially on Father’s Day! I created this healthy peanut butter yogurt fruit dip inspired by The Lion King for #MovieMonday and made it even more special by decorating it to look like a mighty lion!

Look at those happy faces! I love making fun food like this dip for my kiddos. And cuddling up and watching one of my favorite childhood movies is even more special.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • Colorful sliced fruit like peaches, nectarines, apples, pears
  • mini chocolate chips, raisins, and crunchy chow mien noodles, for decorating

Directions:

  1. Add yogurt, peanut butter, and honey to a bowl and mix until smooth.
  2. Pour into a shallow pie plate or serving plate and place on a tray.
  3. Arrange the sliced fruit in a circle around the plate for the lion mane.
  4. Now make the lion face on top of the dip. Add raisins for eyes, mini chocolate chips for a nose and mouth and chow mien noodles for whiskers. Finally add two round crackers at the top for ears.
  5. Serve right away on movie night and enjoy!

This recipe cannot be any easier- just 3 ingredients!

Add yogurt, peanut butter, and honey to a bowl.

Mix until smooth.

Pour into a shallow pie plate, serving plate, or bowl and place on a tray.

Now slice up your fruit for dipping.

Any bright red, orange, and yellow fruit look great for the lion mane.
I used apples, mango, peaches, and nectarines.

Now make the lion face on top of the dip. Add raisins for eyes, mini chocolate chips for a nose and mouth and chow mien noodles for whiskers. Finally add two round crackers at the top for ears.

Arrange the sliced fruit in a circle around the plate for the lion mane.

Serve right away on movie night and enjoy!

The girls, believe it or not, ate the WHOLE darn thing for our movie night treat!

ROARRRRRRR!

🦀 Check out our lunch yesterday at my parents favorite local spot, @soiasianbistro . We tried a variety of items off of their massive updated menu.
🍣 The sushi was by far the best thing we ordered. Another must try is the Shiso Mono appetizer, which is tempura fried Japanese basil leaves stuffed with spiced tuna.
🍤 We also ordered cucumber salad, pork ramen, udon noodles, and chicken katsu curry. All were tasty and big enough to share with the sushi appetizer.
🍜 I recommend checking out Soi Bistro if you are in town and enjoy fresh seafood and Asian dishes like we do. But save it for a date night or special occasion b/c their price point was pretty high for a casual meal. ❤

Happy Mardi Gras! We enjoyed a delicious Cajun inspired meal tonight at home. We started with Shrimp and Grits and ended with Bananas Foster to share. We may not live in Louisiana anymore but we can still celebrate #FatTuesday ! Here's hoping the parades will be back next year. 📿❤ #mardigras2020 #bananasfoster #whatsfordinner #mardigras

It's one of those days...furnance went out (but was fixed), kids took over my bed, husband had to leave early for work, dog barked non stop, and it's a snow day... again. But the sun is shining, the kids are happy, and I'm stocked up on coffee and new books. So it's not so bad after all. #staypositive
