Brown Sugar Bacon Twists and a HP Holiday Brunch Party!

Brunch is a popular meal at our home so it made sense to host a Holiday Brunch Party last Christmas for my girlfriends. Most of our husband's were deployed at the time so I thought it would be a great way for us to celebrate the holidays together with our little ones before we traveled home for Christmas. Even better it was sponsored by HouseParty and HP Photos from Wal-Mart. Each lady left with a goodie bag filled with Wal-Mart HP Photo coupons and free prints. HP provided me with a a free canvas and a couple mounted photo prints for myself too that I displayed on my walls at the party (pics of my sweet Ava, of course). I even had HP photo giveaways for the most festive dressed and best stockings! We had a delightful, low-key brunch and took some fun photos with Christmas props too!
The most popular food at the party, by far, were my Brown Sugar Bacon Twists
Check out the recipe and full party menu below.
Check out my cooking video here.

Thanks to Houseparty, Wal-Mart, and HP for supplying the goodies and giveaways for my Warm Up Your Walls party!

The Brunch Menu:

  1. Crock-Pot Breakfast CasseroleTips: spray the crock-pot with non stick spray first and cook for 2-3 less than recommended. I cooked for 8 hours and mine was quite crunchy and brown (and not in a good way!).
  2. Brown Sugar Bacon Twists (recipe below).
  3. Sugar Cookie Fruit Cups (serve whipped cream on the side for topping)
  4. Crock-Pot Hot Chocolate (always a hit!).
  5. Assorted Christmas Cookies (of course!)

Brown Sugar Bacon Twists

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon dry mustard powder
  • 1 lb bacon, {I like thick cut}

Directions:

  1.  Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2.  Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and set a wire rack over the foil. Use a baking sheet that has sides to catch the grease.
  3. In a small bowl, stir together the brown sugar and mustard powder.
  4.  Press each slice of bacon into the mixture and rub until coated. Twist each strip a few times and place on the prepared baking rack.
  5. Bake until bacon is browned and crisp enough to hold its shape, about 20-30 minutes.
  6. Drain on paper towels and serve.
3 simple ingredients is all I use for this tasty bacon: brown sugar, mustard powder, and bacon!
Mix sugar and mustard together then rub all over bacon.
Twist the bacon tightly and place on a foil lined baking sheet with a rack.
Bake for 20-30 minutes or until crispy.

Drain on paper towels and serve.

Lots of Christmas card ideas from HP, goodie bags, and sweet treats!
Everyone also got a booklet of coupons.
Ava passing out the goodie bags!
These two prints from Ava's first birthday are my favorites:
8x20 and 5x7 mounted photos with silver trim edges.
I love my HP wall decor including this 16x20 canvas.
Lots of Mommas and their sweet babies!
Cheese!
My little Santa baby!

We had fun with the photo props provided by HP...
Cutest reindeer ever!

I made a backdrop with Christmas wrapping paper....

  2. Happy to know about your brunch party. Couple of months ago, arranged brunch party with my friends at one of amazing NYC venues. Hired a chef too who prepared excellent food for the event. Everyone had a great time there.
