It’s that time of year again! Fall is here and it is finally October. You know what that means, right? Halloween! Ava and I have so much fun making treats for Halloween especially for her friends in music class. I am always trying to think of non-candy options for the kids along with savory Halloween themed recipes for our October gatherings with friends.
Well, I think I found the answers folks! I have a new appetizer recipe to share and a non candy treat alternative from Wendy’s that only costs $1 and supports a great cause!

This Halloween we are going to give Ava’s friends and the trick or treaters in our neighborhood coupons for a Wendy’s Frosty® instead of candy.

That’s right, now through November 1, Wendy’s is selling their popular Halloween Coupon Books. For only $1, you can get 5 or 10 free Jr. Frosty coupons. *
Not only is this a great deal but when you purchase the coupon books from Wendy’s  you are supporting finding forever families for children waiting in foster care. Funds from the sales of the coupons books will go to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption® to support programs such as Wendy’s Wonderful Kids. ** This charity was founded in 1992 by Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas, who was an adopted child himself.

The foundation works to find permanent, loving homes for the more than 130,000 children waiting in North America’s foster care system.

* Number of coupons per book vary based on location.
** $0.85 cents of every dollar from the Halloween Coupon Books will go to support the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.

Be sure to rinse and drain your beans well before adding to the food processor.
Add in one large garlic clove, pressed.
Pour in water, lime juice, and olive oil.
Now add the seasonings: cumin and salt and pepper.
 Now blend until smooth.
 Pour into a bowl.
Garnish with smoked paprika.
Add sour cream to a squeeze bottle.
Add a spiderweb design on top of the dip with the sour cream.
I like to add a plastic spider for fun too!
I found these cute corn chips at the grocery store.
They are perfect for dipping in my Spooky Spiderweb Black Bean Dip.

It’s truly Spook-tacular (sorry I couldn’t help myself)!

Mommy-daughter dates often include a stop for a treat
like Wendy’s Junior Frosty® for Ava and a Green Tea with strawberries for me!
I love my sweet girls!

Instead of handing out candy this Halloween,
consider purchasing a Wendy’s Halloween Coupon Book!

For my first #WheretoEatWednesday, I am sharing a local NWA favorite: Rein Sushi and Hibachi. Located in downtown Springdale, AR, they recently celebrated their 1 year anniversary. We dined here orignally when they first opened. It was a lunch date, and I remember loving the atmosphere and having great service, but we ordered hibachi and skipped the sushi during that visit. It was good, but I knew I needed to go back and have an adventurous sushi meal to really see what they were all about!

Flash forward to this spring when we finally made time for a family lunch date on my husband's birthday, and I knew just where to go! When we arrived, the staff at Rein was so welcoming and kind. The small dining area has fun swinging seats and an open sushi bar. It may be small but does not feel crowded at all and is very open and bright. When we were sat, the co-owner and chef Rei came over to greet us and recommended skipping the menu and dining on a selection of his favorites and the restaurant's most popular appetizers and sushi. Let me tell you, if the chef offers to send over his dishes of choice instead of ordering off the menu, always say YES! It was all beautifully crafted, amazingly fresh, and absolutely delicious! Some of our favorites included the Crab Wonton Nachos and Monkey Brain Stuffed Avocado appetizers and the spicy Smokey Ozark Sashimi. The sushi at Rein is hands down the best I have had in the area, and I kid you not when I say every single piece I ate made me close my eyes in ecstasy! To top off our amazing meal, we shared a creamy slice of Yuzu Cheesecake, which is now my new favorite.

So next time you are craving sushi, hibachi, and fresh seafood, check out Rein Sushi and Hibachi for lunch or dinner. They are open 6 days a week (closed on Sunday) and are truly one of the best meals you will have in NWA! Stay tuned for a gift card giveaway later today.

Ava and I attended an upcycled jewelry tree craft class for Earth Day at @bentonvillepubliclibrary tonight. We used mostly broken earrings, charms, and miscellaneous trinkets from home glued on top of twisted wire to create this unique art. I included pieces from my childhood and from my Nana. Mine still has to be glued at home (I ran out of time, of course), but I love how they turned out! #EarthDay2025 #librarylove #makerspace #upcycledart #jewleryart #bentonvillear
