Music Together Class Review and Microphone Cupcakes

Today I am sharing a music themed recipe and a review for Music Together classes.
Music Together classes for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and big kids (5–7) are found in

2,500 communities in more than 40 countries.
There’s one near you!

They say things
happen for a reason. I wholeheartedly agree.

Two and a half years
ago I decided last minute to attend a Cloth Diapering event with my then 6
month old daughter Ava near our home at Ft Polk, LA. We had a great time at the
event and met some wonderful new friends including Ms Kandi, the local Music Together
instructor. She had a booth set up and even did a demonstration with music from the class. I entered to win a gift certificate towards a semester of
Music Together classes and guess what?! Ava and I won! I say Ava and I because
attending Music Together classes is fun for both my daughter and I and it’s
something we both look forward to every week.

We signed up for the
following semester, and after just one class filled with singing, dancing,
instrument playing, and lots of giggling happy kiddos, we were hooked! Ava and
I continued to take Music Together classes for the next couple years and now
that she is starting Pre K in January (yay!), I have signed my 8 month old, Stella up for classes.
I cannot say enough positive things about our weekly Music Together classes. We love our outgoing, always smiling teacher Ms. Kandi and I have referred numerous friends with little ones to the class. After starting the class, my little Ava, who was around 8-9 months, started clapping and humming. Then soon after she started walking and she gradually learned to say more and more words. I definitely believe that she reached these milestones early because of her interactions with other children and the music we heard and sang in Music Together class.
Every semester, Music Together classes feature a specific instrument, such as bongos or fiddle, and your child is given a music CD filled with songs {some familiar and some new} that highlight that instrument. The songs include our favorite welcome and goodbye songs played in each class along with a couple lullaby songs and lots of upbeat singalong songs. You are given a CD to take home along with an illustrated songbook and exclusive access to digital
music downloads and bonus activities online.

The semesters run 8-10 weeks and you attend a 45 minute class once a week. If a class takes place during a holiday, like Valentine’s Day or Halloween, the class teacher may even encourage the kids to dress up {our favorite part}! I know you and your child will love Music Together classes as much as we do! But if you would like to try a free class before committing just search
 www.musictogether.com/momsmeet
to find a class schedule near you and ask for your free trial class!

Ava’s Microphone Cupcakes recipe is below!

Music Together’s Hello Everybody App for iPhone, iPad, or iPod

Download the  “Hello Everybody” app for FREE to get eight Music Together songs that you can listen and sing along to, whether you’re at home or on the go. The sing-along feature lets you show or hide on-screen lyrics, plus you can control the volume of the vocals—or turn them off to hear an instrumental-only track and make up your own words. Use your device’s camera to make your own family music videos and share them with your friends. The app also includes a digital version of one of the award-winning Singalong Storybooks, Hello, Everybody, based on the beloved “Hello Song.”

Hey, Diddle, Diddle Singalong Storybook Gift Set Giveaway ($28.00 value).

Almost 3 years of Music Together memories!

Ava’s first semester when she was not even 1 yet and just learning to walk!
Her favorite part was “playing” the instruments ….
and Ms. Kandi’s guitar with her best bud Charlotte.
All decked out for Valentine’s Day 2013 and 2015,
Dancing is another fun part of class, especially with bells on!
Laying down during lullaby time.
Now Stella has joined in on the fun!
She loves music already.
Siblings under 8 months get to attend class for free with their older sibling.
Halloween 2015- my little cupcakes loved dressing up for music class!
Si many great memories made at Music Together!
My girls love to read their Music Together storybooks at home and
we always have the CD playing in the car!

Make a batch of cupcakes, either homemade or a boxed mix.
Ava requested Strawberry. You need about 12.
Lay a sheet of parchment or wax paper down and and
set out 12 ice cream cones upside down.
Spray with the silver Colormist and completely cover them.
Let dry.
If you used cupcake liners remove them and discard.
Frost your cupcakes with a dark frosting such as chocolate.
Now it’s the fun {and messy} part!
Pour your black sugar sprinkles in a bowl.
Carefully dip each cupcake, frosting side down, in the bowl of black sugar.
You want to completely cover the frosting.
When your cones are dry, set each cupcake in the silver cones
{you may have to trim some of the bottom off  in an angle to make them fit}.
And that’s all there is to it!
Set them out for your music lovin’ party goers and watch them disappear!
My little cutie couldn’t wait to try out her new microphone!
We sang a few songs ….
and then she couldn’t help but sneak a bite!
It’s a fun treat that is delicious too!

For my first #WheretoEatWednesday, I am sharing a local NWA favorite: Rein Sushi and Hibachi. Located in downtown Springdale, AR, they recently celebrated their 1 year anniversary. We dined here orignally when they first opened. It was a lunch date, and I remember loving the atmosphere and having great service, but we ordered hibachi and skipped the sushi during that visit. It was good, but I knew I needed to go back and have an adventurous sushi meal to really see what they were all about!

Flash forward to this spring when we finally made time for a family lunch date on my husband's birthday, and I knew just where to go! When we arrived, the staff at Rein was so welcoming and kind. The small dining area has fun swinging seats and an open sushi bar. It may be small but does not feel crowded at all and is very open and bright. When we were sat, the co-owner and chef Rei came over to greet us and recommended skipping the menu and dining on a selection of his favorites and the restaurant's most popular appetizers and sushi. Let me tell you, if the chef offers to send over his dishes of choice instead of ordering off the menu, always say YES! It was all beautifully crafted, amazingly fresh, and absolutely delicious! Some of our favorites included the Crab Wonton Nachos and Monkey Brain Stuffed Avocado appetizers and the spicy Smokey Ozark Sashimi. The sushi at Rein is hands down the best I have had in the area, and I kid you not when I say every single piece I ate made me close my eyes in ecstasy! To top off our amazing meal, we shared a creamy slice of Yuzu Cheesecake, which is now my new favorite.

So next time you are craving sushi, hibachi, and fresh seafood, check out Rein Sushi and Hibachi for lunch or dinner. They are open 6 days a week (closed on Sunday) and are truly one of the best meals you will have in NWA! Stay tuned for a gift card giveaway later today.

Ava and I attended an upcycled jewelry tree craft class for Earth Day at @bentonvillepubliclibrary tonight. We used mostly broken earrings, charms, and miscellaneous trinkets from home glued on top of twisted wire to create this unique art. I included pieces from my childhood and from my Nana. Mine still has to be glued at home (I ran out of time, of course), but I love how they turned out! #EarthDay2025 #librarylove #makerspace #upcycledart #jewleryart #bentonvillear
