Chocolate Avocado Pudding and Messy Fun!

Today I have something fun to share with y’all! I teamed up with one of my favorite brands, Dreft, to talk about getting messy! My kiddos sure are messy, especially baby Stella and you know what? I don’t mind at all! To me a messy baby is a sign of a happy, well-adjusted baby and as long as they are having fun, I know I can let Dreft tackle the dirty work later!
Since we are talking about getting messy today I decided to share a messy but good recipe with y’all: Chocolate Avocado Pudding! This five ingredient healthy treat is made in minutes and perfect for feeding your little ones and letting them have a messy ol’ time. In fact I even let my two finger paint with their pudding!
Dreft products are specially formulated to be hypoallergenic, gentle on skin, tough on stains, and with a fresh
baby scent.

Do you have a messy baby at home too? Be sure to enter Dreft’s Messiest Baby Contest here: www.parents.com/dreftmessiestbabycontest and check out their Twitter party on November 14th.

Scroll down for more info along with the recipe and a Dreft gift card giveaway!

Last month actress Molly Sims got a little messy with the little ones and helped Dreft launch their nationwide search for Dreft’s America’s Messiest Baby at the Dreft Messy Play Date Party in New York City. This busy Mama has two children and one on the way and she understands the value of messy play!
Dr. Dyan Hes, Medical Director of Gramercy Pediatrics, has partnered with Dreft. She is a pediatrician and a mother and has some great tips on bringing out your baby’s messy side!
  • Get outside and embrace nature. Let them explore and learn and get a little dirty!
  • Have fun in the bath! Use warm water and a mild cleanser for sensitive baby skin and let them splash and play!
  • Let them use their fingers! Playing with food is a great way to practice grasping and when they are older counting and sorting too. Finger foods for snack time are a great idea but you can also try my idea- finger painting with food! Messy and edible fun!

The Dreft #MessiestBabyContest Twitter Party will take place on Monday, November 14th from 9PM-10Pm EST. There are some really great prizes including an iRobot Roomba!

Ingredients:

Makes 2 servings
  • 1 medium ripe avocado, peeled and cubed
  • 3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp honey {can substitute agave nectar or maple syrup}
  • 6 tablespoons skim milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

  1. Place all ingredients in a bowl and blend with a hand mixer or in a food processor until smooth.
  2. Scoop into two small bowls and serve or cover and chill for later.

Peel the avocado, remove the pit, and chop.
I use unsweetened cocoa powder along with honey to sweeten. You could also try agave or maple syrup if you have a little one under 1.
Add avocado and cocoa powder to a blender or food processor.
I found that it was easier to mix if I mashed up my avocado first.
Now drizzle in honey. I also like to add 1 tsp vanilla for a little extra flavor.
Finally add milk. I started with 1/4 cup but ended up adding 6 tbsps total.
 Blend it up until smooth.
It should be smooth and creamy- just like traditional pudding!
Ava decided she wanted to help me mix so we blended our pudding in a bowl with our hand mixer too. This made it the perfect texture and bonus- the kids got to lick the beaters!
Scoop into two small bowls and serve or cover and chill for later.
Who doesn’t love to lick the beaters?!
My little foodie was so excited to try this pudding for the first time!
 It was lip smackin’ good!
Time to dig in…and get messy!
After they snacked on their pudding I gave them poster board and let them finger paint- with pudding!
Stella loved it and then decided to paint herself!
I just love my adorable messy baby girl!
 Their pudding creations!
These two make my heart happy!
And yes they went straight in the bath after their messy fun!
