For the Love of Food

Skinny Sauteed Orange Chicken

I don’t know about y’all, but as much as I love to cook, there are just some foods I would rather eat out at a restaurant or order as takeout. That is how I feel about Chinese food. I crave sweet and spicy chicken and noodles and egg drop soup! Recently, the folks from San-J, who make my favorite Asian bottled sauces, sent me a selection of their sauces to try and I thought I would give one of my favorite Asian dishes: Orange Chicken a try! I used both their Mongolian Marinade and their Orange Sauce for this recipe.  I decided to make a healthier non fried {“skinny”} version and to my happy surprise it turned out amazing and dare I say better than takeout!
Scroll down for the recipe and to learn more about San-J and their new San-J Organic Tamari Gluten Free Soy Sauce.
For more than 200 years, San-Jirushi, the founding company of San-J, has been brewing Tamari soy sauce and miso products. Their company has been passed down through the generations and in 1987,
the first Tamari brewery outside of Japan was built in Henrico, Virginia and
San-J was born. Today, they faithfully continue the tradition of quality
with a variety of Tamari soy sauces, Asian cooking sauces, salad dressings,
soups, and rice crackers.
I was excited to try the selection of San-J sauces mailed to me!
I knew right away the Orange Sauce and Mongolian Marinade would be perfect
for a Skinny Sauteed Orange Chicken recipe!

San-J Organic Tamari Gluten Free Soy Sauce

San-J Organic Tamari Gluten Free Soy Sauce is made with 100% soy
and no wheat while regular soy sauce is made with 40-60% wheat. The higher concentration of soy protein gives San-J Tamari a richer, milder, more complex taste.
San-J Organic Tamari Gluten Free Soy Sauce is made without artificial
preservatives, flavors, or colors and is certified organic, gluten free, vegan, Kosher and Non-GMO Project verified.

Ingredients:

  • 1½ lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cubed
  • 1/4 cup San-J Mongolian Marinade {can sub San-J Organic Tamari Gluten Free Soy Sauce}
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup San-J Orange Sauce
  • 1/4 cup green onions, diced
  • sesame seeds, for garnish
  • orange slices, for garnish

Directions:

  1. In a small bowl, mix together Mongolian Marinade and cornstarch.
  2. Add the cubed chicken and stir to coat.
  3. Marinate the chicken for 10 minutes.
  4. Heat oil in a large skillet or wok.
  5. Remove the chicken from the marinade and add it to the skillet.
  6. Stir-fry the chicken, over medium-high heat, for 5-7 minutes until golden and cooked through.
  7. Add the orange sauce to the chicken and cook for 4-6 minutes, stirring often until the sauce has thickened.
  8. Spoon onto plates and top with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Add orange slices on the side if desired.
  9.  Serve over rice or noodles with a steamed veggie on the side.
Start with boneless, skinless chicken breasts. I trim the fat and cut into cubes.
I love marinading my meat and I knew the Monogolian Marinade
would be delicious for this recipe!
In a small bowl, mix together Mongolian Marinade and cornstarch.
Add the cubed chicken and stir to coat.
Marinate for 10 minutes.
Heat oil in a large skillet or wok.
Remove the chicken from the marinade and add it to the skillet.
Stir-fry the chicken, over medium-high heat.
Cook for 5-7 minutes until golden and cooked through.
Add the Orange Sauce to the chicken.
Toss to coat.
Cook for 4-6 minutes, stirring often until the sauce has thickened.
Spoon onto plates and top with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
Add orange slices on the side if desired.
Serve over rice or noodles with a steamed veggie on the side.

🍜 We had so much fun celebrating Lunar New Year last weekend with dinner at @pho_85_noodle_house_llc in Bentonville, AR! The Banh Mi sandwich and Beef and Seafood Pho soups were filled with fresh ingredients and flavor packed. As you can see their portions were huge so it's a great place to share! We also tried an appetizer sampler, Thai Tea, Coconut Boba Smoothie (my girls' favorite) and macarons for dessert. Everything was made to order and delicious. The staff was kind and helpful. If you live near by, check them out and #eatlocall ! ❤️ @visitbentonville #Bentonville #pho85noodlehouse #arkansasfoodie #whatsfordinner #arkansasblogger #supportlocal #bentonvillearkansas #lunarnewyear #chinesenewyear

🌟I had to step out of my comfort zone today and attend my first networking event since moving to Arkansas. I already struggle with meeting new people and being social since I work from home but now I live in a new city and know no one. Thank goodness I found @winnwa . The networking lunch today at @bonefishgrill was exciting, encouraging, and of course, fun! Over 80 local business women attended and everyone had a chance to introduce themselves and share what they do. I look forward to more #womeninnetworking events in the future. Hoping to make some new friends too!
➡️ Swipe to see what I left with..... Bang Bang Shrimp, of course!🦐 #winnwa #smallbusinessowner #workfromhome #bloggerlife #arkansasblogger #nwarkansas #bonefishgrill #networking
