DIY Painted Princess Pumpkins and Halloween Recap

Princess Decorated No Carve Pumpkins
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and luckily my oldest daughter Ava, who just turned 4, feels the same way. We love dressing up, attending festivals and parties, carving and painting pumpkins, making festive treats, and of course, trick or treating.
Every year we visit the pumpkin patch and pick out a big ol’ pumpkin along with a few smaller ones to decorate. Ashton carves the large pumpkin, I roast the seeds, and the girls paint their smaller pie pumpkins. In the past we have had a Minnie Mouse Pumpkin, a Cupcake and a Minion. This year Ava is all about Disney Princesses and in fact she just had her 4th birthday last week and celebrated with a Princess Tea Party. So, no surprise, she chose a Princess Sofia the 1st carved pumpkin for her Dad to make. I decided to help her create princess themed pumpkins with her smaller pie pumpkins and a little paint, glitter, and a tiara {of course}.
These princess pumpkins were a family affair and we had a great time!
Daddy carved a Sofia the 1st pumpkin, we listened to Disney music, and Ava, Stella, their Oba, and I all painted pie pumpkins. Check out the pictures and instructions below.

I use washable paint for most of our paint projects with the little ones along with foam brushes.
I always have a cheap tablecloth on and wipes ready for clean up!
Hand print pumpkins and footprint ghosts {just had googly eyes}
are the girls favorite things to paint.
For Ava’s Cinderella pumpkin I found this kit for $5 {50% off the week of Halloween} at Target.
It came with the light blue matte paint along with the Cinderella carriage pieces to attach to your pumpkin.
My little artist loves painting her Cinderella pumpkin.
Stella loves painting as much as her sister but boy can this girl make a mess!
We used Martha Stewart brand acrylic shimmer paint for the other two princess inspired pumpkins. Once they were completely covered with multiple coats of paint we placed them on a paper plate and sprinkled glitter {good ol’ Martha Stewart rainbow packs of glitter} on top.
Let them completely dry then add any extra decor.
We pushed in the plastic Cinderella carriage pieces.
Tip: they can be hard to get in but we used a chopstick to poke the holes first.
For the final touch, I added two of Ava’s tiaras on top of the pink and purple pumpkins then set them out on our porch on a stool covered in my most regal looking blanket!
Somehow we convinced Daddy to do just one more pumpkin!
So we taped on broken crayons and heated them with a hairdryer and voila…
…it’s a melted crayon art pumpkin!
Luckily it was only outside for two days because the crayon does melt in the sun!
Ava likes “helping” her Dad with the pumpkin but is not a fan of the gooey seeds.
Our lighted Sofia the 1st princess pumpkin was a hit!
For trick or treating we were a family of butterflies and Ashton was the butterfly catcher!
Dylan was a butterfly too!
He loves trick or treating because he loves all the attention!
We even got to go to the Zoo Boo this year in Alexandria and meet characters and collect lots {and lots and lots} of candy!
Mailing out Halloween goodies to her friends.
Love baking and crafting with my girls for the holidays!
Loved dressing up for Stella’s music class. Mommy and me costumes are so fun!
I am also so lucky my Mom stayed through Halloween and got to go to all the fun events with us.
Of course, we had a fun dinner on Halloween night!
Spooky mummy pizzas and spider eggs along with salad {had to throw some veggies in}
and Zombie Punch to wash it all down!
I also made Spooky Shepherd’s Pie this week too.
The mashed potatoes ghosts are just too cute!
Stella the Mummy!
The many faces of my silly girl! Happy Halloween friends!

🌯Late #CincoDeMayo post! My first visit to @forttacostl last night was delicious! I tried a variety and loved it all. They were out of pork but that gives me an excuse to go back and try the al pastor pork and homemade sauce next time!

We spent Earth Day 2022 in Springfield at the picnic and a movie event in the gardens. It was the perfect sunny afternoon with a breeze and we shared a delicious charcuterie picnic and watched "Bee Movie". The girls did crafts, played in the park, listened to speakers and poetry, and @theparkboard gave us a tree to take home. We had a great time and everyone slept the whole drive home (except Mom)! #earthday2022 #springfieldmo #missourilife #movienight #earthday #picnic #familyfun
