Caramelized French Onion Dip

Summer time is here and that means picnics, barbecues, and lots of family gatherings for us!
I am a big fan of dips as appetizers at parties because they are easy to make and serve and can be prepared in advance so there’s no stress the day of! This dip was pretty much devoured by my onion lovin’ husband so I would say that means it’s the bomb!
Serve it at your next gathering and watch it disappear 🙂

Ingredients:

  • 2 Vidalia onions, sliced (I like bigger pieces but you can dice if you prefer)
  • 8oz cream cheese spread, softened
  • 2 cups plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • salt/black pepper, to taste
  • olive oil, for saute

Directions:

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a few swirls of olive oil.
  2.  Add sliced onions and saute stirring occasionally until golden brown and caramelized, about 25 minutes.
  3. Remove onto a paper towel lined plate to cool. I also blot with a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  4. While the onions are cooking, combine yogurt, cream cheese, Worcestershire, and garlic powder in a bowl.
  5. Season with salt and cracked black pepper to taste.
  6. Mix onions gently into dip.
  7. Chill at least 1 hour or overnight for better flavor, prior to serving.
  8. Serve with veggies, chips, or crackers and enjoy!
Start with two beautiful Vidalia onions, my personal favorite!
Slice them into thin rings and slices.
I like the bigger pieces in my dip but if you want a less chunky texture try dicing the onions.
Add to a large skillet over medium heat with a couple tbsps of olive oil.
Saute and caramelize until softened and golden brown, about 25 minutes.
Drain on a paper towel lined plate and let cool.
Blot off any excess oil from the onions.
The main ingredients for the rest of this creamy, flavor packed dip!

Combine yogurt, cream cheese, Worcestershire, and garlic powder in a bowl.

Season with salt and cracked black pepper to taste.

Gently stir in caramelized onions.
Chill at least 1 hour or overnight for better flavor, prior to serving.
Serve with veggies, chips, or crackers and enjoy!
I just love this chunky, creamy dip with just about anything!
Serve this at your next barbecue. I promise there won’t be any left!

🍽 Yesterday we enjoyed lunch at NCAL+H2O, an upscale seafood gem of a restaurant in downtown Rolla. It was a delicious meal and everything this Florida girl has been craving!
🐟 We started with an order of amazing Tuna Poke Nachos then shared a Grilled Shrimp Club sandwich with fries and a tasty salad with house garlic parm dressing. We couldn't stop there so we also split a bowl of cioppino, which was chock full of fresh seafood. Next time I want to try their Parmesan Halibut or Seafood Pasta!
❤ If you are looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate an anniversary or have a quiet date night (or day date like us) check out @saltwaterrollamo !
⭐ Lunch was courtesy of @rolladowntown. I was a winner of $100 in downtown dollars in their Tis the Season of Giving contest!
