For our family Thanksgivings we switch it up every year and never serve the same thing.
Except one special dish: Mama’s Holiday Cranberry Sauce. We all love to cook and every year we want to try and share new recipes but this cranberry sauce is always the same and always a hit.
Sometimes she changes it up slightly by adding orange slices or orange zest or substituting brown sugar for white sugar but seriously y’all- you just can’t go wrong with a classic!

Mama's Holiday Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients

  • 12 oz bag of fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup sugar {can substitute brown sugar}
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan over medium high heat add orange juice, water, and sugar.
  • Stir and bring to a boil
  • Add cranberries & cinnamon.
  • Reduce heat to medium low and simmer.
  • Stir occasionally, until the cranberries break down and the sauce thickens. This takes about 30-45 minutes.
  • Serve warm or room temp with Thanksgiving dinner and leftovers like my Thanksgiving Leftovers Pizza.

Notes

*My Mama likes to garnish with orange peel or zest.
