The Best Super Soft Sugar Cookies

Sugar Cookies are a staple during the holidays and after experimenting with many, many recipes I finally found one that I think is perfection. This cookie dough is easy to roll out and cut into shapes and bakes up into soft and sweet cookies! They are delicious on their own but add a festive touch with sprinkles or a flavored icing.

I have made these topped with sprinkles for Christmas, cut into shapes and topped with orange flavored icing for a baby shower, and even mixed with blueberries and packed in gift bags as a going away party favor.

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 3oz cream cheese, softened and cubed
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. almond extract
  • 2 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Cream butter, cream cheese, sugars, egg  and almond extract in a mixing bowl until fluffy.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt.
  4. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Stir until soft dough forms.
  5. Roll
out and cut with cookie cutter. Thin dough will make crunchy cookies.
If you want soft dough, it needs to be about 3/8 inch thick.
  6. Place on a lined baking sheet and bake 8-10 minutes until lightly golden brown.
NOTE: Try not to
handle the dough too much and place extra dough wrapped in the fridge until ready to use.

How cute and yummy do these look?!
