Just three weeks ago we welcomed our daughter, Stella Rose into the world!
As a busy mom with a toddler and a newborn, I do a lot of laundry and we always make sure to stock up on Dreft products! I love their new laundry care line especially the Stage 1 Newborn Wash since it's super gentle for Stella's clothes and her delicate newborn skin. With Ava being older I really enjoy the In Wash Scent Booster. It smells clean and fresh and is perfect for freshening up the messy {and sometimes smelly} toddler clothes! I also keep Dreft Wipes in the nursery, kitchen, and car and use Dreft Stain Remover Spray on all our clothes.

I love my family and our big, messy, beautiful journey of #Amazinghood .
Lots of new clothes for Stella means lots of laundry to do!

In between naps, errands, cleaning, cooking, and laundry, I always make time for my big girl Ava. And with Dreft's new laundry care products for both my children, we can focus less on the mess and more on the amazing moments we share together - like baking!
My little helper, Ava loves to be in the kitchen with me. Her favorite book is If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and recently I discovered there is a cookbook that goes with the storybook called Mouse Cookies
Ava was excited to try out the recipes in her new cookbook and she wanted to bake up Shortbread Smooches Cookies {aka Cousin Bitsy's Smooches} today.

Ingredients:

Makes approx 30 cookies
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 30 unwrapped Hershey's kisses

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together all ingredients except Kisses.
  3. Drop one inch balls of dough onto a greased or lined cookie sheet.
  4. Press a chocolate Kiss into the top of each cookies.
  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden.

In a large bowl, mix together all ingredients except Kisses.

Unwrap Kisses {and try not to "sample" too many!}.
Ava helped me mix together all the ingredients.
 She's definitely a future foodie {makes her Mama proud!}.
Roll dough into small balls and place on a lined cookie sheet.
Press the chocolate Kisses into each cookie.
Bake at 325 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
My sweet girl couldn't wait to sample a cookie! Oh, the faces she makes!

Party Time Blue Cheese Fondue

Warm Blue Cheese Dip
I have always loved Fondues and dips because not only do they taste great but making them at home is super simple and perfect for parties and gatherings! This Blue Cheese Fondue is one of my favorite party appetizers. It takes only a few minutes to prepare and it goes great with just about anything from buffalo chicken bites to cubed bread and veggies. Don't have a fondue pot? No worries! Just pour into a serving bowl and I promise this fondue will be gone before it has time to cool down!

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounce Philadelphia cream cheese, cubed and softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 8 ounce crumbled blue cheese
  • 2 tbsp half & half {or sub milk}
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp garlic salt
  • Assorted dippers including: cubed French bread, boiled red potatoes, sausage balls, buffalo chicken, and baby carrots

Directions:

  1. Combine cream cheese and milk in sauce pan over medium heat and blend together with a whisk {or use a mixer or immersion blender} until smooth.
  2. Turn heat to med-low and stir in blue cheese. Mix well.
  3. Mix half & half, cornstarch, and garlic salt in a small bowl.
  4. Pour into cheese mixture and whisk until thickened.
  5. Pour into fondue pot and serve warm with dippers.
  6. Time to get the party started!

My Favorite Turkey Pesto Crepe

Crepes have always been a favorite of mine although mostly for dessert. Sweet crepes filled with chocolate or even better Nutella {!!} and fresh berries are my weakness and I craved them big time during my pregnancy. Unfortunately, I had to watch my sugar towards the end so I painfully cut my beloved crepes out of my diet. Luckily my local coffee shop and fro yo hangout, SwirlBerry, makes some delish savory crepes too and I was soon hooked on the Turkey Pesto Crepe. It's simple, with only a few ingredients, but hearty and filling and good for you too! Even better they have a location in our local hospital so after my checkups I could stop by and pick up a Turkey Pesto Crepe for lunch! Now that baby Stella is here and I don't get out as much, I decided it was time I made these tasty crepes at home.
I don't have a fancy crepe griddle maker like SwirlBerry and getting the hang of making the perfect, thin crepe can be frustrating. So I bought packaged crepes at my local grocery store and {another time saver} also picked up some jarred pesto. Add some fresh spinach, cheese, and sliced turkey and this crepe is assembled and cooked in just a few minutes!
Want to make your own savory crepes? Use my recipe here and omit the vanilla and sugar!

SwirlBerry's sweet Nutella and Berry Crepe and the savory Turkey Pesto Crepe
I could eat these every day!

Ingredients:

Makes 1 crepe
  • 1 premade crepe {I used a 9 inch} or use my recipe here
  • 3 slices deli thin turkey
  • 1/3 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • 2 tbsp premade Pesto sauce
  • 1/2 cup fresh baby spinach leaves {about a handful}

Directions:

  1. Heat a non stick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Add premade crepe to pan and spread a generous scoop or two of pesto sauce all over crepe.
  3. Top with shredded cheese, sprinkling all over.
  4. Now add spinach leaves and 3 slices of turkey.
  5. Cook for about 2-3 minutes, you just want to heat enough to warm the meat and melt the cheese.
  6. Fold crepe over or roll it and slide on a plate.
  7. Serve warm and enjoy!

Simple ingredients. Simple meal. Sensational flavor!
Pesto is the bomb! Homemade is best but for this time saver recipe
I went with store bought.
*Just remember that it is oil based so too
much will make your crepe soggy on the bottom.
After spreading pesto on your crepe add shredded Swiss cheese all over.
Now add baby spinach.
And sliced deli turkey.
Heat for a couple minutes to warm meat and melt the cheese.
Fold your crepe over.
Or roll it.
Slide onto a plate and serve warm.
Just as good as SwirlBerry and it only took a few minutes to make.
Serve with seasonal berries and you've got a tasty and healthy lunch!
