Did you know? Natural pumpkin is great for canine digestion and most dogs love the taste! So I created these healthy Cheesy Pup-kin Dog Treats for my boys. Guess what?! They loved them 😉

Today I have two fun things to share with you.
First, y’all know I am an animal lover and you’ve seen my two pups, Charlie and Dylan throughout my blog.  I had grown up with dogs and my Dad even worked for the Humane Society back in the day.
So when I first moved out in college I knew I wanted a dog of my own. I adopted Charlie a few months later and he’s been my sweet boy ever since! Dylan was a rescue that was given to me a couple years later when I moved to South Florida. He got along so well with Charlie it was a match made in puppy Heaven and I just couldn’t say no!

:EXCITING NEWS: I am thrilled to share with you that I have teamed up with Purina® Pro
Plan®
to promote their Leash On 30 Day Challenge with MapMyFitness.com.

Here are my two happy, full of energy pups, Charlie (a beagle) and Dylan (a cocker spaniel) :

They go on two long walks a day since we live in a duplex type community. We also let them out to play in the open backyard and try to take them on car rides and to the dog park at least once a week. Now that it’s finally starting to cool down I can walk them longer and I like to take them to the nature trail and golf course for a change in scenery this time of year. I am excited to participate in the Leash On 30 Day Challenge and log all the activities I do with my dogs! You should join too!

I created my profile a few days ago and I am truly enjoying this interactive site that really encourages me to get outside (in this lovely Fall weather, I might add), get active, and to bring my pups along!
Signing up takes just a moment. Check it out here: http://www.mapmyfitness.com/purinaproplan/#/home

Attention all dog owners: Once you are registered now it’s time to sign up for the 30 Day Leash On Challenge. Simply log your weekly exercises with your dog, whether it’s a leisurely walk or heart pumping run, and if you log in 30 days in a row you are entered to win a year’s supply of
Purina® Pro Plan® Dog
Food
! Check it out here:
http://www.mapmyfitness.com/leashon
Sign up today and you will automatically be entered to win fun prizes!

Here’s what Purina® Pro
Plan®
has to say :
Exercising is more fun when your dog comes along. So grab the leash,
watch him jump for joy, and head out for a walk or run. Do it 30 days in
a row to get your chance at a year’s supply of Purina® Pro Plan® Dog
Food. You can also win daily rewards, and qualify for additional prizes
for reaching milestones along the way!
The challenge starts 9/30 and ends 11/13

Cheesy Pup-kin Homemade Dog Treats

Secondly, I had to share a homemade dog treat recipe with y’all today since we were talking about my pups! My boys love treats and even though their active I have to cut down on the unhealthy snacks. So I came up with these dog treats using pumpkin (since I always have tons of cans of pumpkin around my house this time of year!). Even better: Natural pumpkin
is great for canine digestion and most dogs love the taste! I made these treats on the large side and baked them until they are crunchy. Customize them to your dogs liking. Bake for 5 minutes less for more soft, chewy treats and roll the dough into small balls instead of using a scoop for small bite size treats.

Cheesy Pup-kin Homemade Dog Treats

Makes 20-40 dog treats

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup canned pumpkin puree
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1/2 cup shredded or diced Cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Mix all ingredients together in a bowl and lightly knead dough with hands.
  • Use a large spoon or small ice cream scoop and make 20 balls on a parchment lined baking sheet.
  • Use a fork to flatten and press down.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden and lightly crunchy.

Notes

Optional: You can roll into small balls using your hands and make about 40 dog treats instead of 20.

These dog treats are easy and tasty (for your pups!) with only a few ingredients.
Mix all ingredients together then knead lightly with your hands.
Scoop with a small ice cream scoop or spoon onto a parchment lined baking sheet.
Makes 20 balls spaced on baking sheet.

Flatten each ball with a fork.
Bake for 20 -25 minutes until golden and crispy.

Tasty, crunchy, and homemade in 20 minutes!
What dog wouldn’t like these Pup-kin treats?!
Gone in 10 seconds! I think Dylan liked them!

Thank you for taking some time to write this post. Taking care of your pet is not an easy task. Those who consider bringing a puppy in the house need to think if they have what it takes to look after a new family member. To be more exact, you need to be ready not only to play with it, but also to control the quality of the food you provide. See more http://dogsaholic.com/food_treats/10-dog-cookie-recipes.html

🍜 We had so much fun celebrating Lunar New Year last weekend with dinner at @pho_85_noodle_house_llc in Bentonville, AR! The Banh Mi sandwich and Beef and Seafood Pho soups were filled with fresh ingredients and flavor packed. As you can see their portions were huge so it's a great place to share! We also tried an appetizer sampler, Thai Tea, Coconut Boba Smoothie (my girls' favorite) and macarons for dessert. Everything was made to order and delicious. The staff was kind and helpful.
