This is a copycat recipe I have wanted to try for a while, so the other night when we had friends over for dinner and a movie I decided it was the perfect time! These soft and fluffy biscuits taste just like Red Lobster (or dare I say, better!). They were flaky and soft and the cheesy, garlicky flavor was spot on. I served them with my Cowboy Spaghetti and they were a hit!
Ingredients:
Makes 8-10 biscuits
Biscuits:
Makes 8-10 biscuits
Biscuits:
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup cake flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 6 tablespoons butter, softened and cut into 1/2-inch pieces
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
Garlic Butter Topping
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
Make sure to use cake flour for the biscuits, not just all purpose flour. The cake flour gives them a softer, less dense texture that is ideal for this recipe! |
Directions
- Preheat oven to
425 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. - In a large bowl, whisk both flours, baking powder, baking soda,
salt, and garlic powder until combined. - Add in the cubed butter and
using your fingers, rub it into the flour mixture until it resembles
coarse meal. - Add in the shredded cheese and stir then add in the
buttermilk and mix until combined. - Using a medium ice cream scoop, scoop the biscuit mixture in rows onto the
prepared baking sheet. - Bake the biscuits for 10 minutes, and then
remove and brush with garlic butter topping {see below} and then bake for an additional 5
minutes until the tops are puffed and golden brown.
For the garlic butter topping:
- Mix all three ingredients together in a small bowl.
- Set aside until ready to brush on biscuits.
