Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Garlic Biscuits

This is a copycat recipe I have wanted to try for a while, so the other night when we had friends over for dinner and a movie I decided it was the perfect time! These soft and fluffy biscuits taste just like Red Lobster (or dare I say, better!). They were flaky and soft and the cheesy, garlicky flavor was spot on. I served them with my Cowboy Spaghetti and they were a hit!

Ingredients:
Makes 8-10 biscuits

Biscuits:

  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup cake flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  •  1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 6 tablespoons butter, softened and cut into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
Garlic Butter Topping

  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
Make sure to use cake flour for the biscuits, not just all purpose flour. The cake flour gives them a softer, less dense texture that is ideal for this recipe!

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2.  In a large bowl, whisk both flours, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and garlic powder until combined.
  3. Add in the cubed butter and using your fingers, rub it into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse meal.
  4. Add in the shredded cheese and stir then add in the buttermilk and mix until combined.
  5. Using a medium ice cream scoop, scoop the biscuit mixture in rows onto the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake the biscuits for 10 minutes, and then remove and brush with garlic butter topping {see below} and then bake for an additional 5 minutes until the tops are puffed and golden brown.
For the garlic butter topping:

  1. Mix all three ingredients together in a small bowl.
  2. Set aside until ready to brush on biscuits.
