Looking for an easy last minute Father’s Day craft?

I am sharing these Custom D-A-D Letters as a cute gift idea and three different ways to make them!

My girls on a bowling date with their Dad last year for Father’s Day!

1. Painted Decorated Wooden Letters

This is the easiest and cutest craft in my opinion, especially for elementary school age kids.

Use either wooden or cardboard/paper mache 3D large letters from the craft store. 

My crafty girls love to paint so this craft was right up their alley. 

We made these painted letters last year at the USO.

Each girls painted one “D” and they collaborated on the “A”.

Father’s Day crafts in under 30 minutes ( and not too much mess)! 

This is such an easy and colorful craft to display. Ashton still has his on his dresser.

2. Photo Letters 

I made these letters as a gift for my husband in honor of his last career in the Army EOD. 

You could also make these to spell out a name or “DAD”. I simply printed photos off my phone and cut them to fit. Then I used glossy Mod Podge to seal it on. 

Hang with strips or display on a shelf as a one of a kind gift.

3. Colored D-A-D Picture

Ok, this is almost too cute for words, right? I traced these letters out on white posterboard and let the girls color (or scribble because they were toddlers). Then I cute them out and took photos of them each holding a letter. The dog even posed with a letter. Then I printed them out and arrange on a collage to spell out DAD. 

Miss Ava thought it was so fun! And how cute is she?!

Stella is usually the comedian but how funny is this child?!

My Stella Rose baby. Always happy and precious!

My sweet Dylan posed too. He was the best dog.

What is a Tomahawk Steak?

Tomahawk Cowboy Ribeye Steak for Dad

Feeds 2-4

Ingredients

• 36 oz Tomahawk steak
• 1 cup marinade {I used teriyaki}
• kosher salt/cracked black pepper to taste
• butter or oil for saute
• garlic butter for topping {optional}

Instructions

• If you chose to marinade your steak add it to a large baking pan and coat both sides with marinade.
• Place in the fridge for at least an hour.
• Remove from the fridge and season both sides with salt and pepper.
• Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
• Heat a large cast iron pan over med high heat.
• Add butter or olive oil to coat the bottom of the pan.
• Add your steak and sear for 5 minutes then flip and sear the other side.
• Place the steak, in the pan, in the oven and cook to desired temperature. We cooked for 35 minutes for med rare (approx 135 degrees in the center}.
• Remove from oven and let rest for 5-10 minutes.
• Top with garlic butter then slice and serve.

How adorable is this minion card I made for Ashton? I used  paint pens, mod podge, and a bottle cap.

Cedar Plank Grilled Salmon and Veggie Kabobs

Ingredients

RUB:

• 1 tbsp brown sugar
• 1 tsp coarse salt
• 2 tsp ancho chili powder
• 1 tsp cumin
• 1/2 tsp black pepper

SALMON:

• 4 6 ounce salmon filets
• 1 cedar grilling plank soaked (I use Fire and Flavor brand)
• honey for drizzling

VEGGIE KABOBS:

• 8 skewers soaked if bamboo
• chopped cubed veggies like onion, squash, zucchini, mushrooms, peppers, asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, etc)
• olive oil
• salt/pepper to taste

Instructions

• Soak plank and bamboo skewers underwater for at least an hour.
• Preheat grill to medium low heat, about 350 degrees.
• In a small mixing bowl, combine rub ingredients.
• Rub salmon with desired amount of rub and set aside.
• Thread veggies onto skewers, using two bamboo skewers per kabob to secure veggies.
• Brush kabobs with oil and season with salt and pepper.
• Add veggies to the preheated grill.
• Place soaked plank on preheated grill, close lid, and heat for 3 minutes.
• Using tongs turn plank over and place salmon on heated side of plank.
• Close lid and grill for 12-15 minutes or until desired doneness.
• Remove planked salmon from grill and drizzle with desired amount of honey.
• Remove veggies from grill when fork tender and serve on plate with salmon and rice.

Notes

Salmon recipe from Fire and Flavor

The spice rub is from the Fire and Flavor company. Mix together

 

Brush with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.

Drizzle honey on warm salmon.

Cedar Plank Salmon has quickly become a staple in our home.
